T'is the Season for Giving!

Hey Protector! I've posted something like this each year, and I think I am late this year - usually I post it before your Thanksgiving. (Happy Thanksgiving btw!)

T'is the season for giving!

Please don't forget your local Food Bank this holiday season. If you can spare a few non-perishable items to drop off in your local grocery store's food bank box, please do so. Or, make a pet food donation to the local animal shelter (a bag of 'nip wouldn't be unloved! Or, a few dog treats!). Or drop an unwrapped toy off to a local shelter or charity for a child who won't be expecting Santa to visit. Donate to Coats for Kids. Call the local school and see if they participate in any kind of drive for families around Christmas. Drop off a few warm blankets or hats/scarves/mitts at the local shelter. Donate to the local soup kitchen. Give some money to the Salvation Army Santa. Or, since we're all gamers, donate to Child's Play and give a sick kid in the hospital a better day.

There are so many little things you can do to help someone less fortunate, and it all adds up. It doesn't take much to help spread the magic of the season, and make someone's day a lot brighter.

Every year my entire family gets involved in a good will organization spun off from our church (Action Nouvelle Vie - French website) which now helps about 8000 people each month.

It's a tearjerker when the Christmas season rolls around and you realize just how vast your community's needs are. Can't help but want to keep contributing / volunteering all year long after (which we do). In food alone 8.5 million was donated this past year.

I know times are hard for everyone these days, but take a look at the following website and then think hard about where you stand: http://www.globalrichlist.com/index.php

You might just be able to find a little something to share with others after all.

Good point! I forgot to mention, even if you don't have the money to spare, time is always welcomed as a form of currency too -- volunteering is a wonderful gift for an organization in need, especially during the busy holiday season.

I donated a car to a local charity that gives them to people that need a car to get around for work and other daily life. I also drop money in the salvation army buckets every year. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
