Hasten has wasted my enhancement points?
As of the launch of City of Villains in October 2005, adding more than 3 enhancements of a particular type to a power drastically reduces the benefit of those enhancement. This is called Enhancement Diversification.
As for needing to respec, don't worry about it too much this second. When Issue 19 launches (currently targetted at this coming Tuesday), you'll get a free respec for every character, which can be used by typing "/respec" in your chat bar.

Buy a respec recipe... or wait until the 16th????
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but what I meant was when you choose your enhancements for your powers after you level up. I have checked and they haven't changed at all for hasten at least. Idk about my other powers. And the game has been downloading Issue 18: Shades of Grey for the live release, so I'm assuming that that is a developer fail? :P

Or do I have to find a respec recipe? I have 500,000 influence if you don't mind selling me one for that cheap (I know its not much for what they sell in the auction). Please help me out. Thanks a lot

1. The Devs give them out after most major updates. These ones are called Freespecs and you can only have one per character at a time. As Chad mentioned the Devs will be giving out two of them very soon. One with the release of Issue 19 (probably on the 16th but it could be delayed) and one exactly a week after that
2. You can run the Respec Trial for a free respec. This can only be done three times per character. Hero Trial and Villain Trial
3. Veteran Rewards. At the 9month mark and every 12 months after that you get a respec for every character through the Veteran Reward system.
There are a couple of other ways but those are more specific, see the Wiki article on Respecs if you want:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Respec
Ok sorry. So basically your wasting enhancement points if you upgrade them more than 3 times? Because the stats on it hasn't changed since I first got it. And yeah I'm putting them on. Yet the specs won't change. As long as they are giving one out on the release then I'm good, the problem is I'm level 27 and so I missed the chance to Respec .

Enhancements increase the effectiveness of one aspect of the power (i.e. Damage, Recharge Time, Accuracy or others). Due to ED it is not worth adding more than three of the same type of enhancement to a power.
What server do you play on?

Oh ok. Well now I feel really stupid. So to increase the different aspects of the power I create enhancements through recipes and then apply them to powers? Or please explain to me what I have to do. I'm really sorry for my lack of knowledge here. I play on Justice. And I can do it even if I'm 27? Oh good haha. Now I just need to figure out how to do the trial and stuff. Again sorry for the noobness
When talking about Enhancement Diversification, the threshold is based on the total boost to the attribute from the enhancements (of the same type) you're using, not the actual number of enhancement pieces. If you were using Training Origin or Dual Origin, you can slot up all 6 slots and you'd be ok. It is only when you start using Single Origin enhancements that the sum of their boost goes over the threshold with your 3rd SO and you start getting hit hard with diminishing returns for additional SOs. This is where the "don't use more than 3 enhancements (of the same type)" rule of thumb comes from -- they're talking about SO enhancements. Depending on level, Invention Origin enhancements can also hit the "no more than 3" advice. Read that link to Paragonwiki.

Ok, ok. I think I'm starting to understand it now. I'll read through these wiki links and such. So now I can wait for the official release and then type /respec to get a respec or I can do the trial with 3 other people correct?

I'm assuming you know how to identify the stores on your mini-map, right? At your current character level, you ought to be using Single Origin enhancements. Level 30s in particular. Go to Talos (the stores are easiest to get to there) and find the store for your Origin. Go into the store and click on one of the store NPCs. You will see a lot of enhancements with funky names. Ignore the names, they're just for roll playing purposes. Enhancements follow a consistent color scheme, for example: yellow is always accuracy, red is always damage, etc. If necessary, right click on the enhancement for Info to see what it really is.

You can buy them and then open your enhancement window to slot them. SOs only work when your level is +/-3 to their level so you have to replace them every 5 levels or so.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Enhancements
Invention Enhancements are slightly better than SOs but require a little more effort so I would recommend waiting until you have the hang of it before using them, it's easy to waste a lot of inf slotting the wrong type of IOs.
Yep.
Ok thanks guys for the help. So When I buy a SO enhancement, do I select which power to use it on? And how would I do this?
EDIT: Lol ok I figured it out. Again thanks a lot for the prompt responses everyone
Thanks I understand now. IO's definitely are the better choice. Are there stores that sell recipes or do I have to auction for them/find them?
Since you're asking such basic questions, we'll probably have to step back a bit and go over the basics.
Starting off, in case you didn't know, on your powers tray, you see a bunch of links on it's header bar. Click on the "Enhancement" link to enter the Enhancement Management screen. You should see all your current powers and the slots you allocated during your level up. Assuming you haven't put any enhancements into them yet, they'll be empty.
What enhancements to get depends on the power you want to slot up.
For attacks, most players slot 1-2 accuracies, up to 3 damages, and either 1 endurance reduction or 1 recharge. Of course, it also depends on how many slots you've allocated to the power. If you only have a few slots, start with the accuracy because nothing else matters if you can't land that attack.
For armor type powers, you'll want to slot 3 of the appropriate defense or damage resist enhancement and 1 endurance reduction.
For mez type powers (immobolize, holds, confuse, etc), treat them similar to attacks except use the appropriate mez enhancement. Note: for controllers, the AOE controls have an inherent -accuracy penalty, so 2 accuracy is a must to compensate for the penalty.
Note: when you have an enhancement in your inventory tray (while in the Enhancement Management screen), you can click on the enhancement and screen will dim. Only the powers that can take that enhancement will stay lit ("highlighted"). This feature isn't particularly useful with regular enhancements like SOs, but may come in handy when you use IOs.
As you're playing, you will get enhancement drops. You can slot the useful ones if they're better than what you have. You can also use them to combine with already slotted enhancements of the same type to increase the level of the enhancement. Note the increase level still needs to conform the the +3 max limit.
To combine an enhancement, click the (already) slotted enhancement you want to affect, you will go into the Combine screen. You will see animation of your enhancement moving to the combine position. Click the extra enhancement you have in your inventory and (if it is allowed) it will move up to the combine position too. Then press the Combine button. Depending on the difference in levels between the slotted enhancement and your extra, there is a percentage chance for a successful combination (100% if both are the same level, 90% if one is -1 level, 80% if one is -2 levels, etc.)
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Thanks a lot for explaining it to me. I really appreciate it. I definitely understand the wiki links easier now
One last question... how do I know if I should delete a certain item of salvage or not? Can I buy it somewhere?
Ok thanks guys for the help. So When I buy a SO enhancement, do I select which power to use it on? And how would I do this?

Enhancements come in three basic "store bought" varieties: Training which are usable by any character of appropriate level, Dual Origin which are usable by either of the origins of the enhancement (for example a Natural/Tech Dual Origin enhancement can be slotted by either a Natural origin or a Tech origin character) and Single Origin which can only be slotted by a character of that origin.
The slots you've added to your powers are places for you to put enhancements. Let's take a basic attack as an example. You can slot for accuracy which will make that attack hit more and you can add damage enhancements to make that attack do more damage when it hits and you can add endurance reduction enhancements so that it costs less endurance to use the attack and you can slot recharge enhancements so the power recharges faster.
Now the various enhancements all have a level and can be used by a character within 3 levels of that enhancement. As a level 27 character you could use level 30 enhancements (3 levels higher than you) down to level 24 enhancements (3 levels lower than you). Once you level to 28 you would no longer be able to use level 24 enhancements (they would turn red and have no effect anymore) but you could use level 31.
Let's get down to specifics on enhancements here. A typical Training enhancement (usually only available up to level 20) will boost one aspect (for example accuracy) of a power by 8%. A Dual Origin will boost one aspect of a power by 16% while a Single Origin will boost one aspect by 33%. It's a little more complicated than that as some types of enhancements have different "schedules" with different values but that's the basics.
Keeping this in mind let's go back to our sample attack. We want it to hit so we'll slot accuracy in it. We want it to do more damage so we'll put damage enhancements in it. We want it to recharge faster so we can use it more often so we'll slot recharge enhancement into it and we want to be able to fire it off without running out of endurance so we want endurance reduction. We can have a maximum of 6 enhancements in this power, so we can't maximize everything (well, not with basic enhancements but don't worry about that for now) and we need to choose. A good basic slotting for an attack with Single Origin (SO) enhancements is 1 accuracy, 3 damage, 1 endurance reduction and 1 recharge.
To slot enhancements click on the "enhancements" tab on your power tray. This will open the enhancement tab and close your inspiration tab by default... you can undock any of these from the tray by pressing the little blue dot on the window. On the enhancement tray you'll see a tab labeled "manage". Click on this and you'll bring up your power/slot screen that you see when you level up. This is where you move enhancements from the enhancement tray into your individual powers. Once you've slotted an enhancement it's there until you put another on top of it (overwrite it) or you delete it... you can't unslot it and move it to a different power (exception: when doing a re-specification <respec> of your character).
Talos Island is the place you'll want to take your level 22-30 hero to buy enhancements as all the stores are relatively close together. Look at your map and go to the store that matches your origin (if you're Natural origin go to the Natural store, if you're Tech go to the Tech store and so forth) and talk to the store clerk. This opens up the shop window, first sell off the enhancements in your tray that you can't use and then buy enhancements you need. Once you've bought 10 and filled your tray go to the "manage" screen and move your new enhancements into your powers. Repeat this until you've bought the enhancements you need.
What enhancements you want will of course depend on your character's powers and the enhancement slots you've added to those powers. A Blaster will mainly want accuracy & damage enhancements while a Controller may want accuracy and hold or immobilize. Always slot at least one accuracy into any power that needs to hit enemies first... a power that missed is one that does no damage so that's the first priority.
One item however is your money situation... a full set of SO's at your level will run in the neighborhood of 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 influence. Do not be concerned about this however; inf is very easy to come by. Your likely full of salvage and recipes; take these to Wentworths and put them up for sale. Do NOT sell these to a store or vendor until you have a better feel for prices; many items are worth hundreds or thousands of times more to players in the auction house (Wentworth's) than they are to the store. As a case in point rare (orange) salvage is only worth 5,000 to a store but most pieces are worth at least 500,000 on the market with many worth 1-3 million. Even some common salvage (store value 250) will bring 10,000-100,000 on the market.
Money's no problem at all; many of us have billions on hand so it's well worth paying a little for a piece of salvage we need to craft something. On that perspective the difference between 100 inf and 100,000 inf is meaningless to many of us.
In fact if you'll give me your global name I'll shoot you a couple million inf to get you started.
I hope I haven't been too basic in my writeup here but it seemed to me you were confused about these areas. I know all of us talk about Invention builds and discussions about this set is good for x while that set is good for y. I'm going to strongly suggest that you totally forget about inventions for now and just use the store bought enhancements until you have a thorough understanding of the powers and enhancement. Those enhancements were all we had for the first several years of the game and they're still perfectly adequate and MUCH simpler. To put it another way right now you're working with addition and subtraction while Invention builds are along the lines of Calculus. Don't try to learn everything all at once.
Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing of all about the game, and that's to have fun. Enjoy the ride, learn about how things work and don't try to jump straight into the deep end; there's plenty of fun to be had in the shallow end of the pool before you learn how to swim.
Welcome to the game and always remember to have fun.

Ok, your powers have slots available in them, you've been getting two every other level to add to your powers. These slots do absolutely nothing unless you put an enhancement into them... you've had these dropping from enemy defeats all along. From your questions I assume you haven't ever opened your "enhancement" tray; I imagine it's stuffed full of worthless level 1-3 training origin enhancements.
On average a bleeding edge Invention (referred to as IO) build is only about 10-20% more effective than a good SO build. I'd far rather have a player with a good basic SO build than one with a bleeding edge build that he didn't know how to play.

Thanks so much for that. This is my first character and things can be overwhelming :P. My global name I assume is the username that I log into correct? If so it's <snipped>. Again thanks alot the wiki articles are a little hard to understand at sometimes.

If what you gave IS your username for your login I suggest you change it; you don't want to help someone to steal your account. Your login information is something that should NEVER be shared with anyone.
I recommend you edit your post to delete your login information.
Edit
Checking ingame I see that Redempti0n is NOT your global.

Hey guys, I have hasten and I've spent 5/6 enhancement spots on it, yet none of the stats of it has changed that I can see. The recharge time is still the same, the rate is increases is still the same etc. Is this a bug? Or do I have to find a respec recipe? I have 500,000 influence if you don't mind selling me one for that cheap (I know its not much for what they sell in the auction). Please help me out. Thanks a lot
