Hami-O's and the level shift

I know that the enhancement bonuses from HO's are tied to the level of the enhancement like SO's, and not level-independent like IO's. My question is: if a character slots an incarnate enhancement with a level shift, would the enhancement bonuses decrease from any HO's the character is using? (I ask, while canceling my bids for HO's)

This is one of the areas where it helps to think why you're not level 51, officially. Just "shifted" to 51. HOs, SOs, etc. are not reduced.

I very much doubt it. The incarnate content is supposed to be doable with SOs and if HOs changed so would they pretty much forcing everyone to use IOs (espeically if the other Incarnate slots also have a level shift).

I suspect that it will work like Sidekicking does now. Your combat level is changed for the purposes of things like hit points, the base values for powers and your level relative to enemies but your basic level doesn't change for enhancements and such.

It is very likely that level shifts are "virutal". Think about what happens when you join a higher level team and "supersidekick" up 20 levels. Your level 30 SOs don't stop working. I think level shifts will be a lot like that.

Actually, they may even be less extensive than that. If you level shift up 20 levels, you move 20 rows on lots of look-up tables - how many HP you have, how much damage you deal with a scale 1 attack, how many HP you heal with a scale 1 heal power. It's entirely possible that the level tables will still cap out at 50, and being level shifted to level 51 won't change those values.

If so, all that's left is how much the "purple" patch affects you. Forget Incarnate shifts for a moment and imagine you're a level 40 fighting level 44 mobs. Fighting level 44 mobs when you're level 40 is harder than fighting level 43s. You are less likely to hit the 44s, and when you do, your powers do less to them. The L44 mob is more likely to hit you than the 43 is, and when it does hit you, it does more damage than the level 43. This is above and beyond the fact that the L44 mob has more HP than the L43. It's also above and beyond the fact that a level 44 would hit you for more damage if you were level 44 than a level 43 would hit you for if you were level 43. So over-level mobs get harder in a way that accelerates rapidly with level.

Now imagine you were level shifted at level 40 to level 41. Even if that doesn't let you look up your attacks and HP and such on the level 40 table, it would change the "purple patch" calculations so that you were treated as only 3 levels lower than the level 44. It wouldn't get get as much bonus to its accuracy, it wouldn't get as high a multiplier on its damage, and you would be penalized less in the reverse directions.

except for the sake of argument, a +4 has the same chance to hit as a +1. I believe the purple patch starts at +5 and above.

but yea, think of the level shift as a SSK to a higher level.

Actually the purple patch applies to any level shift and increases/decreases the effectiveness of powers. It doesn't apply a To Hit bonus until +5 but it does apply an accuracy bonus at +1 and higher though so +4s do have a higher change to hit than +1s.

I should know better than to doubt the uberguy.

Looks like it's going to be a moot point for now anyway, since the level shifts won't come until I20. Thanks for the replies nonetheless, my HO bids have been reinstated.

from what i read about on the level shifting, basically nothing will be affected except that higher lvl baddies will con differently

so if your a lvl 50 that is shifted by 2, you wont gain additional hp, the only thing that will change is that lvl 52 baddies will con white to you instead of orange
