Not installing on Windows 7

Hey there,
I'm trying to install CoX onto my my system. The client gives me an error message that states:

"Error opening file C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.tmp

You may be out of disk space or trying to install to an location where you have insufficient permissions."

It's a brand new computer with 400gb+ of space, and I'm not sure what it means by permissions. It's Windows 7 Home Premium.

Any help would be appreciated,
Grizz

Right-click on the executable and select "Run As Administrator".

If that works, you can navigate to the executable itself, right-click and select the Compatibility tab and check the checkbox for "Run as Administrator" so it runs that way by default in the future.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I've tried that, and I still get the same message.

Other possibility is that UAC is preventing you from writing to the directory.
Try turning UAC all the way down, reboot, and try again.

Well, it's working now. I set the properties to "Run as Administrator" then I restarted and tried again. Not sure what made a difference. It just seemed like it was getting that error only when the updater tried to start up.

Thanks for the help,
Grizz

You can change when notifications occur to never and not ever run into this issue again. Similar to windows xp and before. Less useless and annoying microsoft sercurity to deal with. But if you are afraid you might mess something up, dont do it.
