Elec/Fire/Ice: Does it Work?

G'Day mates, Outback here. Been thinking about this build for quite awhile now, and I'm just curious... would it work? I read Eldandil's guide about it, and looking past his super-snide remarks, I saw problems but at the same time potential.

Guess I've always been confused on what [b]Burn[b] does. Would Teleporting into a mob (with your Ice armor on) and using your PBAoEs like Short Circuit, Fire Sword Circle, Consume, Blazing Aura, and of course, Burn, actually work? Hot Feet also gives me a bit of a worry. Does its fear/slow effect effective enough as well?

Sad thing? I have a level 50 Fire/Fire/Fire blaster, my best toon in fact, and I don't really know what Fire Manip does hahahahaha... I just use it for Build Up and Consume (which is WIN! MASSIVE! WIN!)

Anyway, hopefully people here have enough know-how to fully explain if this combo would work or is just a theory (granted, some theories have merit. Like, say, the theory of gravity? :P)

Cheers

Elec/fire will work as an AoE blapper if that's what you were looking for. You will have 5 PBAoE powers at your disposal. Ball Lightning (not really PBaoE but would work just the same) Short circuit, Combustion, FSC and Burn. Burn was changed into a front loaded damage power and the fear was removed so you'll definitely want to start using it. Your gonna have to be careful with short circuit and combustion because they have 3 second anime times that will prevent you from doing anything else but watching your health bar hit 0. See what attack chain works best. The damage aura's are skippable but if you want to use them thats your choice. BA's raduis is so small i always skip it, Hot feet has a huge radius but will cause them to run (slowing them down too). As for Cold, you could try combine Snow storm and hotfeet to prevent mobs from running but i think i tried this and it dosent work so well. Besides, we live in the future! Blasters have AoE immobs now! The most popular has to be the mace mastery pool for the AoE immob and Defensive shield.

I crashed a cadillac through the gates of hell and returned with a fistfull of dollars.

To answer your second question, those powers would "work" but probably wouldn't kill everything, at least not until later levels and you had everything slotted. And since you are already talking about Ice as your APP, I will assume that's the case. The trick would be to activate everything in the correct order. You could try to 'port into a mob with Hot Feet active, slotted for Slow so that they can't run away, then try to activate Short Circuit followed by Consume, thus draining their endurance, and killing everything. I don't recommend that since NPC end is different from player end.

If you're set on this combo, I'd say start with Hot Feet and BA active, 'port into the mob, activate Fire Sword Circle, followed by Ball Lightning, followed by Combustion, Short Circuit, then Consume (in that order). After that, with proper slotting and against a mob that is relatively close to your level, you should be left with a few or more dead guys, and the rest drained of Endurance, and you can finish them off with whatever you choose.

All that being said, this sounds like more trouble than it is worth. If you are going with Cold Mastery (which I LOVE) you may as well take Flash Freeze and pick 'em off one at a time (considering, with 2 or three slots, you can put them to sleep for 30 seconds+, more than enough time). Though, with this being an AoE/PBAoE heavy combination, you might be better off Clutch's suggestion of Snowstorm (to increase the slow and flee) or just going with Mace Mastery for the AoE immob. (though I don't care for it).

This isn't going to work. Consume doesn't drain your enemies endurance, it just damages them and gives you endurance back. It is more like Dark Consumption from Dark Melee than Power Sink (which is the power you would want to use for that tactic)

Completely mis-read the power. (I was going off online descriptions, haven't actually rolled a /Fire yet.) Thanks for the clarification. Outback, obviously ignore that bit of my post
