I picked up a second account well after they started selling additional character slots, for a variety of reasons. It makes it a lot easier to dual-box, badge farm, show off the game to friends, etc.

My understanding is that BBT runs two desktops and a laptop (or did), the desktops are multi-core, and they run 2-3 instances of CoX, plus the one on the laptop, depending on server traffic and character/task difficulty. I have always worried that they would one day update the rules to forbid multiple accounts, because it would kill my addiction. I can barely manage to stay sane playing a single character these days. Multiple accounts are like a gateway drug, once you try it, you keep wanting more, just so you can feel super.
Actually, I only use my main machine for the five accounts, and the laptop for a sixth, which I keep active mostly for my sister. I kind of have a problem with having all my accounts tied to one email. SPAM! I get may be 8-10 emails every time they send out a batch, it's annoying >_> I already own six copies of Going Rogue, I don't need any more emails telling me to buy it >_< Misappropriated marketing funds there, I am the one person who doesn't need to know the latest issue is out o.0
Also, I can run all six accounts at once, but that's just silly : p

All the accounts are seldom active at the same time but I usually keep 2-3 active and sometimes when I feel like it, I activate all of them and do the 6-man team thing (its great fun).
