Recommended ancillary for DM/SD scrapper?
If I remember correctly you don't need to be blueside to have access to APP's so going villain will allow you to get any pool without having to switch sides.
Also what is your build like? Most APP/PPP are used to fill in holes in a build (Such as Shadow Meld in Soul Mastery for people who arn't at the Defence Cap) are you looking for AoE damage? Control? Self buffs?
DM/SD only has one (real) AoE damage power with Shield Charge. Picking up Fire Ball gives you an extra power to do AoE with, while gaining more damage from Melt Armor. Mace Mastery and Mu Mastery also have AoEs which can be obtained with only 2 power selections but you wouldn't get a hold and a resist debuff.
Physical Perfection is another option if you only have two power choices available. More recovery is never a bad thing.
You can pick Ancillary pools on both sides (that is, Blaze, Body etc), while PPPs are only available by completing the patron arcs which are found redside.
I would recommend one of these: Mu, Blaze or Body. Mu or Blaze if you want more AoE, Body if you have endurance worries.

Thanks for the clarification. The holes would definitely be aoe and I am also anticipating some endurance issues. However, since I apparently won't necessarily need to choose right away, I think I will assess the endurance and slotting situation as I level and make a decision.
Once you're fully slotted/io'd, DM shouldn't be causing you end issues, epecially since the set doesn't have a lot of aoe's. I'd suggest bolstering your aoe ability, as others have suggested, by going into fire or villainside mu/soul.
Played this game quite a bit at launch of CoH and for only a brief period after CoV so largely unfamilar with alot of the new mechanics and gameplay elements added since CoH.
After buying GR and getting back in the game, I have started playing a Praetorian Dark Melee/Shield Defense scrapper pretty heavily. Trying to plan ahead and particularly consider future target ancillaries, particularly as it impacts how I ally.
So was wondering if anyone could provide some advice about what ancillary to shoot for (either CoH or CoV side). I see a lot of builds where scrappers are going Blaze but looking at the sets I am not entirely clear why (unless Fireball is in practice so much better than it looks on paper relative to other similar powers in other sets).
Ideally I would probably like to go villain with this toon, but if Blaze or something else CoH side is significantly better for scrapper, I am willing to flop.
Any input appreciated
