Im thinking of unshelving my dom he is at lvl30. What are your thoughts on this combo?

I remember starting this awhile ago (pre-i13) for PvP. But considering the changes to PvP and the fact that I sux at it, it wont be for PvP. With the changes to Dom's would this be worth it for most of PvE stuff.

Thanks, hope that made sense lol

I'm still working on mine. (level 27)

I don't know, I like it. I've generally not gotten into ice powers as much, but icy assault is pretty good. It's definetly a generalist set. I'm reeeeeeeeaaaly looking forward to the double slow auras for kicks. It lacks mitigation of its own, but powerboost helps the primary make up for that.
Since the rebalancing, there really seems to be no 'bad' secondary on doms.

Fire/ still has it squishiness before things are well developed, but it's definetly good on damage.

It doesn't seem a 'leet' build so far, not making records for defeat times or total control, but it's fun. That's what matters, right?

I find mine fairly fragile at times and kinda awkward. I dont know why. I've played plenty of other Fire Doms to level 50 (and my Fire/Ice is 50) but he just seemed a bit wobbly. Of course, he was my first Dom to make it to level 40+ so I didnt really know what I was doing on him, or I was learning. And he was only my second Dom to make it to 50 (first was Fire/Thorns).

But he is good. I dusted mine off and I've been playing him a bit recently. Power Boost is really nice (read: essential) to give me time (increased mez duration) to kill everything. I really like the ice melee attacks, but I always have a bit of a time getting back into having to mix ranged and melee single target attacks in terms of how I place them on my tray and how my personal inclinations are. Sometimes I prefer Fire Assault for being more a ranged set (in a way) and Earth Assault for being basically all melee. The positional awareness required by /Ice Assault is always a bit of a struggle to remember/re-learn.

I am going to respec mine soon and pick up some of the Fire Epic stuff. This will be my respec plan, though honestly I cant afford the build currently. But I am going to spec the power selection and slot order this way and just go with cheap frankenslotted IOs, to get the best cheap numbers I can on him.

I tried making a new topic, but the forum keeps eating them!

I've got a Fire/Ice Dom at 32 with Flight, Speed and Fitness pools. I was wondering if anyone had some tips as to where to go with her. Chilling Embrace and Hot Feet are nice, and I was thinking of ditching Frost Breath once I had extra AoEs from an APP, but was sort of torn as to go with Fire or Ice Mastery. Figuring out how to slot for perma is a little tricky, considering I've never done anything but frankenslot for the best bonuses in the past.

I'm feeling the same way, actually.

...And I think I pinned down why. /Icy has no mez. At all. The slows are nice and all, but most every other set has one or two attacks that at least have the possibility of disorients/hold/knockaround/etc. Thorny and fire are exceptions, but they have their damage boosts for the 'kill it quicker' route. Icy? Not so much. Add the fact that it chilling embrace adds nothing to your damage rate while only delaying attacks, it can feel like it's putting out less damage than other dom secondaries without the added safety they give.

This might often be covered by the primary, but fire control gives less mitigation than other sets. While /Icy's slows might delay incoming damage between controls, at base fire/'s controls have large enough gaps that the slows don't do so much to save the day.

Don't get me wrong, it's decent combo. It can just feel a tad squishy at times be cause of the low mez/no mez combo.
