Cold/DP

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this combo?

I started one up (a whole level 5 in Praetoria) and was wondering what people thought, more so of DP as a Defender primary when considered Cold primary. I've got a Cold Dom Controller at 50 already, so I'm not too worried about Cold's awesomesauce by itself. I've yet to touch DP personally other than the past 5 levels.

haven't gotten to terribly far into DP myself, but I would build it as late-game melee build using only toxic and fire bullets. Of course SupFire is going to be must have for such a build and it's going to be rough lvling til Executioner's Shot at 28. Sleet + Bullet Rain should have a similar effect as Sleet and Ice Storm, only downside on that end is no Aim, but that's not too great of a loss. Set looks like it will bloom very late, but be quite powerful when it does.

Yeah, I was looking mostly at Chemo bullets (as I think most defenders tend to), but that's because I think the bit of damage that fire will give me won't be quite as helpful as the unique damage type and damage debuff.

I realized very early in my soloing Praetoria stuff that I could hit one enemy with recharge/slow cap between Infrig and Snow Storm, so other than the cold damage type (or attempting to ignore both when I get sleet, which the benefit will likely be marginal at best), Cold ammo will be pointless for me. Other characters, it could be awesome, but just simply redundant for me.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but toxic damage isn't any more special than fire damage in regards to PvE. Most foes have zero resist to all dmg types and relatively evened out on the ones that have toxic, fire, and cold. Personally I would say Fire all the way once you get Benumb and SupFire.

It's okay. I got a DP/Cold Corr up to 34 or so before deleting it and remaking it a Cold/DP defender. The redraw does get on my nerves at times, but it's okay. It's not a seriously damaging set, but it's still fun. I still prefer my Cold/Sonic but with my Cold/DP I found that I was more able to get in some powers that I really wanted like Frostworks.

I think my defender is in the mid-30s now, don't remember for sure. It's a fun character to group with but I don't know that I'd care to solo it until I get Heat Loss down to near perma.... DP's AoEs are end hogs.

I hear that Empty Clips is pointless for the most part because of the long animation time and low damage (which it seems that way when looking at Mids). However, I assume it's usefulness would increase on teams as well. I'm not too worried about lining cones, what with a Dark Blast defender being my "main" and having experience with many other cone powers. What's your guys' take.

You have two very strong AoEs available later on. It's something I would take and drop later pretty much since it's inferior to the last 2 AoEs and you really don't need 3. I feel the same about Frost Breath.
