Compare Corruptors against Blasters for Dual Pistols?
The question here, I think, it really what role do you want to play on your team? Do you want to be pure damage, damage, damage or do you want to be damage and support?
DP/ is middle-of-the-pack damage with some reasonable utility secondary effects (few of which are uber uber), so your choice of secondary is going to be important. Especially in Praetoria where the Mez comes Fast and Hard, the ambushes are Frequent, the critters are buff, and squishies are hard freaking pressed because of these three things.
Teaming with a control AT will help with this, but you're both going to be at a disadvantage because you'll be at the mercy of being lowbies.
As far as corr secondaries (since this is the Corr Forum), I'd avoid /pain unless you are comfortable being VERY support-oriented and team-oriented. /kin will help kick out the damage with your Dom friend (although few doms want to get close enough to mobs to benefit from /kin's heal). /dark will do the next best thing by giving you a strong heal, and -resist AOE early in your career.

It really comes down to what role you want to play while on a team, and what you want your character to accomplish while solo.
I would recommend reading Silas' guide to corruptor secondaries. I'd also recommend dp/traps. With the poison gas trap, you'll be able to solo everything but Hamidon pretty much, and the -res debuffs will (generally) even out the damage differences between blaster/corruptor DP, if not bring the corr out on top overall.
Blaster is more about burst damage, corruptor is more about damage and buff/debuff, so it's really a question of what you want your character to do with their guns.

Some of it will come down to your play style, too. If you intend to play the terrain, abuse the pathing and AI of mobs, and do your best to stay mobile and distant, I'd say you go Blaster 110%. When I play that way on Corruptors I get frustrated and bored because you can be back pedaling through maps for a while before you finish them.
On the other hand, a set with some reliable -res and self buff/healing would help make up the difference and make you more desirable on certain teams (particularly TFs)... I'm thinking of /Radiation in particular here. The recharge in AM could help with the slow recharge on Hail of Bullets, too.
Just note that if you use chemical or ice ammo, that's another debuff. My DP/Sonic Corruptor draws an *insane* amount of aggro when I use Disruption Field and either of those types of ammunition. I have grown to appreciate Brutes who take taunt because of that one character.

I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.
I was thinking of starting a new toon, using the Dual Pistols set, but I wasn't sure if I should go Blaster of Corruptor.
I know that Blasters get a higher damage scalar, plus Defiance, the toon can give itself some minor self buffs in a fight. Also, most secondaries has Build Up for greater burst damage.
Corruptors, however, do have Scourge, which really comes into play when you well have the advantage in a fight. But it also has access to some secondaries like Pain Dom and Kinetics.
I will most likely use this toon to duo with a Dominator in Praetoria initially. I'm thinking I want something to have better damage potential, though survivability is also a good idea to consider. Any thoughts?
