Characters you love, but hate to play.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
I have a Stone/Fire Tanker whose concept and name I love, but as a result of concept, decided not to take the fire swords. He breathes and emits fire but does not wield a weapon. Since the two best powers in the Fire secondary are probably Fire Sword Circle and Greater Fire Sword, he's stuck with the less-damaging remaining powers...often, in Granite mode. Breath of Fire looks awesome, but it's no match for FSC.
So he's slower than a non-restricted Granite tanker would be. And because he predates IOs, I've never tried to IO him out to partially offset Granite's weaknesses.
I also have a nifty concept for a Dark/Sonic Defender. I love Dark Defenders and always enjoy having them on teams, and Sonic does great damage. So what's the problem?
Unlike Rad's and Storm's to-hit debuffs, Dark's is effectively "split" across two powers, the toggle and the fear cone, so applying both takes a wee bit longer (and they're different shapes). Then the Sonic blasts are...slow. Awesomely slow-feeling too, maybe the long howling sounds make them seem even slower. And Sonic's -res side effect works best if you apply it before your big hitters. Net effect is I apply Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare, Tar Patch (for more -resist!), then my slow sonic blasts, from weakest to strongest. On teams, that means most of the fight is over before I unleash my particular hell. Soloing works better if I am patient, but what a shame to solo a Defender with all those powers!
Despite getting to 30 and getting a lovely sleep power slotted up (which my teammates can promptly break!) the character feels like a chore to play and contributes too late in most team situations to really feel effective.

(per Noxious gas) o_o what is this i don't even. I dunno if the modifiers are that different on tier 2 pets instead of tier 3 (since I doubt Lich is fond of running into melee,) but that's the power that lets me send my Bruiser casually strolling into +2 spawns of Bane Spiders with multiple bosses.

Aye. that you can. for 20 seconds, every two and a half minutes when fully slotted. Love it when it's up, but it isn't up much.

That said, yeah, the recharge is a pain. Considering how much the utility is reduced on sets that have few/no melee pets, it could probably afford to be a lot quicker recharging. Still, between Noxious Gas and Gang War, I can usually distract enemies for long enough to cripple the big guns with poisonous love.

While they're choking on the gas, stack Paralytic Poison and my patron hold to get one boss out of the fight, hit another with Envenom + Weaken. If there's a third boss or scary lieutenant, goto + attack my Bruiser onto him. Cycling those tends to keep everything busy until it dies.

I guess this is a funny thing for me: when I find weak sets, I don't mind them. When I find strong sets, no problems either. What bugs me is when I play strong sets with a few powers that just don't seem work right, and for the life of me I can't understand why, in the grand scheme of things, the powers were left the way they were. I put flash arrow, sonic's disruption field end cost, cloak of fear's end cost, and the first iterations of /dark stalker's auras in this camp.
Thank goodness /dark stakers got their day. Huzzah!

my DP/NRG blaster is one of my favorite chars to play, dunno who people seem so hellbent on hating Dual pistols
Also, i had forgotten my TA/A Defender, Annah. She was my first lvl 50 Defender, but oh my god she's so boring to play, in any team with some decent damage output, stuff i dead long before i can put down debuffs. The only upside is putting down oil slick, but that also takes so long sometime to ignite that it doesn't do much :|
And my Rad/nrg defender, Freya Fallout. Played her in an all defender team, which in itself was fun. But the combination is rad and energy was a stupid choise on my part. Energy secondary kept scattering stuff away from my anchor :| It's a shame, cause i really liked her costumes.
