I'm sorry, but I couldn't hear you over the size of your sig image.

Something more specific than the currently larger than it used to be sig picture that is.
As Troy Hickman can attest, we hate it when authors Pimp their own works, like Troy Hickmans Eisner Nominated "Common Grounds", or his Top Cow Pilot Season winner "Twilight Guardian", both of which you can purchase at any fine bookstore near you. Or, if your broke, you can steal* from any fine Bookstore near you.

unfortunately, in a situation where if I don't do it, nobody will

self-published=self-marketed...but if it's not appreciated, I'll not do anymore than the sig

This is why I ask ahead of time, some sites are of the mind "Please yes! We want more stories to look for!" others are rather hostile to self-promoting as you seem to indicate. Granted, no one has ever commented on my sig before, so I thought it would be okay to ask.

Granted, I'd really love for my situation to be parallel to Troy Hickman's, but he's got an agent (I believe) and people advertising his stuff for him. I've got, well, me and word of mouth. My actual best trafficked site (ff.net) completely disallows advertising your own stuff, so I'm not able to really inform the 6k visitors a month there about my original works.

In any case, I thought I made a polite request for where this site stands on this. (I remember asking permission from one of the Red Names before putting in my Sig) And I was expecting a polite response back.

It's a joke. Hickman loves plugging his work. The secret is to plug it in a charming and humorous fashion, possibly even ironically criticizing your own books. If the threads that held them still existed, I'd link some of The Pantsless Wonder's posts on the subject as examples.

tl;dr version: Yeah, plug away, just don't go all infomercial on us.

ah, my apologies then, I failed to note the humor, I'll try to be less defensive from here.

Lycanus, I say plug away! The worst that can happen is that it will be "disappeared." But I think if we can run threads here that are appropriate to the section (which this is) and which can help our CoH brethren, more power to 'em. And if I can help with the plugging, let me know.

P.S. I have no agent, unfortunately, and probably 90% of the "advertising" I get is what I myself create by being a ubiquitous and probably quite annoying figure on the internet.

Troy Hickman - So proud to have contributed to and played in this wonderful CoH universe

Yeah, I heard the University frowned on the whole "body paint advertisement" while lecturing.

Ahhh, I think I was confusing you with Hickman of Dragonlance "fame". My apologies to you for that, no one should be so compared.

Except maybe Greenwood (for fiction, not campaign design...his campaign design is awesome...fiction...less so)

Anyway, I put out a plug on this forum under the title "Bystander"

I actually have five books right now (three novels, a short-story anthology and a campaign guide) split across three world settings.

Bystander being urban-fantasy/superhero, Greenwater being High-Fantasy and Zodiacs being Wu-Xia Western.

It's not your fault. I really should have realized that someone new might not get the joke (Personally, I love how Troy promotes his own work, which is why I take every chance to pimp it myself). So really, my bad.
