This is an extremely general question. You have a few choices to make first before we can really recommend a powerset to pair with Dual Pistols.

Choice #1: Primary or secondary? If you chose to be a Blaster or a Corruptor, you will have Dual Pistols as your primary powerset and you will need to choose a secondary powerset. If you choose to be a Defender, Dual Pistols will be your secondary powerst and you will need to choose a primary powerset. You get the powers in a primary powerset earlier and the modifiers tend to be in your favor (i.e. Blasters and Corruptors do more damage with Dual Pistols than Defenders because it is a primary for them and a secondary for the Defender).

Choice #2: What role do you want to play? Defenders have support as their primary role (buffing, debuffing and/or healing), with damage as secondary. Corruptors are the reverse, and Blasters are all damage, all the time. So which role sounds more appealing to you? You can always make more than one or even try out all three and see what sticks.

Choice #3: Hero, Villain, or Praetorian? Blasters and Defenders are usually heroes, while Corruptors are usually villains. You can begin the game as a hero Blaster, a hero Defender, or a villain Corruptor. Alternatively, you can begin the game as a Praetorian and choose any of the three, but you'll be in Praetoria for the first 20 levels. While this is the newest area of the game and very highly populated as a result, you cannot directly interact with the rest of game's population until you exit Praetoria. This includes established supergroups and higher-level players in general.

Once you have some idea what you want to play, we can recommend powersets that should work well with those choices. There is no one 'best' even when you narrow things down to a specific AT and role like Blaster, which is part of the strength of the game since it means that there's no 'wrong' selections that get you passed over.

I am going to ask the same question, but I have my details for you if you can answer it.

I am looking for a secondary powerset for damage.

My character will be a corrupter starting in Praetoria.

Well I was gonna put up a picture but it won't let me.

Okay, so that's a good start. So you're going to make a Corruptor, starting in Praetoria, who will be Dual Pistols/something, and you want that something to be good for damage. Assuming I've interpreted that correctly, then probably your single best bet is Kinetics. No other secondary will be better for damage.

That said, it might be worthwhile to know what else, if anything, is important to you for this character? Do you also want to be able to debuff? Do you see this being more a solo character, more a teaming character or a bit of both? Will you be playing with any specific teammates on a regular basis (and if so, what are their powersets)? Other possible secondaries you might choose that are good for damage output include Storm, Traps, Dark Miasma, Sonic Resonance and Radiation Emission, with Cold and Thermal also having decent damage enhancing powers but getting them late in the game.

Most of the above powersets have some kind of -res debuff, direct damage powers or both to offer you, but only Kinetics allows you to reach the damage cap so if damage is the primary concern there really is nothing that will beat a Kin. The main downside of playing Kin is that that don't stack as well as some of the other powersets since a single Kineticist can already damage-cap the team (although additional Kins do give more endurance recovery and recharge with their speed boosts and more debuffing with their Transfusions).

To give you something anecdotal, I have a DP/Rad Corruptor who I absolutely love playing. Radiation is a very versatile set, it has an extremely good buff (which, with a high recharge build, can be perma'd and makes it that much easier to perma hasten as well if you're into that), some of the best debuffing potential in the game (being able to debuff damage, resistance, tohit, defense, speed, recharge, and regeneration all the time), a passable heal, some great situational powers in Mutation, Fallout, and Choking Cloud, and a great emergency tool in EM Pulse.

As Justaris said, if all you care about is HURTIN STUFFZ, Kinetic is without question the most powerful choice, but I feel it lacks a certain versatility that I enjoy having in a character. More than one Kin is usually overkill, more than one Rad isn't quite so redundant.

Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

Thanks, you guys have given me some things to chew on while I work her out. Once I get it decided on I'll let you guys know in what direction I went. It will most likely be DP/Kin.
