New to Defenders, Kin/???
Might try Kin/Sonic. I can vouch for that one. Been told Kin/Dark is good but don't have first hand experience or ice blast with it's extra slows and decent out of the box damage...
I would think Kin/Pistols might be fun since the final blast happens pretty much where your standing and doesn't crash yah... and repeated siphon speeds still buff your own recharge right? right?
I don't know...
Kin/Sonic is fun.
I enjoyed Kin/Elec.
- No cones, so you can stay in range of your own buffs while pumping out the damage
- Transference and Short Circuit will sap a boss reliably, and keep him there till hes down.
- Tesla Cage recharges quickly, letting you hold an enemy stationary as a source fo health and endurance.
- Kinetics boosts Elec's lowish damage, Elec provides the safety that Kin needs.
I also liked Kin/Ice
- Ice provides the damage mitigation that Kin lacks through holds
- Freeze Ray is a hold on a par with Tesla Cage - great for turning an enemy into a "healing post"
- Blaster level damage in Ice Storm and Blizzard + Fulcrum Shift is insanely good.
Both do take a long time to come together though. Having a Scrapper buddy to keep the aggro off you will make it much easier. Kins and Scrappers synergise really well.
And what do you mean by the highest second power for Defenders? I dont understand.

Good AoE damage (in no particular order):
Kin/Archery - fastish recharging tier 9
Kin/Rad - a targeted AoE, a PBAoE, and a cone
Good ST damage plus some utility (in no particular order):
Kin/Ice - Bitter Ice Blast is fantastic DPS, blaster level rains, holds for mitigation
Kin/Psi - four power DPS chain (MB, Subdue, TKB, WD), strong AoE recharge debuffs for mitigation
Good utility (in no particular order):
Kin/Dark - mag 3 immobilize cone, mag 2 targeted AoE stun, reliable knockback cone, tohit debuffs
Kin/Sonic - mag 3 sleep cone, reliable knockback cone, beanbag, resistance debuffs
Kin/Elec - end drain, recovery debuffs, and a hold
Not so good (in no particular order):
Kin/AR - Archery does damage better
Kin/DP - Archery does damage better, Kin doesn't need DP's help to damage debuff enemies
Kin/Energy - knockback is nice, but other sets provide better mitigation and damage
Kin/Sonic is not only fun, the pairing has a true synergy. Kinetics to get much (max frequently) damage, /Sonic to pad -Res debuffs, to take teammates to the damage cap and beyond. It's not "easy" since /Sonic's main AOE requires you to jump out for cones, but well worth the effort.

I can also vouch for /sonic. Now, the only thing I will say is that your gunna feel kinda slow at +6 or more spawns, at least I feel like it. Now, what I can say is you will see AV's and EBs melt under your awesomeness between keeping the damage of your team mates up and the resistance of your enemy lowered. I will say this, shoot for the soft cap on S/L defense and you will see your survivability rise in melee range for sure. Currently I have 45% s/l and 40% ranged with hover and I have been doing good. I do carry quiet a few break frees on me cause mezes are what takes my defenses to about 5% XD

I have tried making a defender before and I always wind up deleting, but I really liked the one I made before with the Kinetics jumping with super speed (ok I am easily amused).... what is a fun, good all around build with Kin that a novice player can use? I will mostly be playing with my friend who loves to play Scrappers and sometimes solo/groups.
Also what is the highest 2nd power for Defenders? I tried to google, but got nothing but outdated information.
