Anyone have any wisdom to share on Sonic/Sonic?

I couldn't find a guide, and wondered if there were any particular abilities to get/skip or any other things to look out for.

Thanks.

Most people use the defender guides as its very similar. I did make my first 50 on villains a Sonic/Sonic, built worrying about endurance management as well as the usual stuff. Best thing to do is get an idea of your slotting rather than power picks.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Sonic/Sonic will work much better on a Defender.

The buffs and debuff values from Sonic Resonance are noticeably better on a Defender, and the increased -Res debuff from Sonic Blast will make up for the lower base damage.

Sonic Resonance is a very passive set, and quite endurance hungry, and terrible solo.
On teams, it's great, but requires very little of you, allowing you plenty of time to blast.

Shout (the Tier 3 Blast) is skippable, since Shriek and Scream are faster recharge than normal blast Tier 1 and 2's, and form an attack chain of their own. And Shouts animation time is as long as both Shriek and Scream combined, so it doesn't gain you any DPA using it.

From Sonic Resonance, skip Sonic Repulsion, Sonic Cage and maybe Clarity. On a Defender, Sonic Siphon can be delayed until really hard targets like EBs/AVs start to appear, say the mid-20s. (Corrupters of course have to take it).

Just to add: while Shout isn't going to increase your DPA, it does provide an additional source of -res, so that is something to consider.

Would not skip Clarity, as it gives mez protection as well as perception. Nice thing about Clarity used to be that its animation was way faster than Clear Mind/Enforced Morale but they changed the animation on those powers (went from the "hand out" animation to the Speed Boost animation) so Clarity is actually half a second slower, but it's still an invaluable power. I don't use my Son/Son/Mu much anymore but one of the times I'll dig it out is on the second redside respec where you bump up against Devouring Earth, who can chew through defense like a knife through butter (so resistance is nice).

As far as powers to skip... from the primary I'd skip Shout, Shockwave, and Siren's Song (unless you plan to solo a lot, which is not recommended on a /Sonic). From the secondary I'd skip Sonic Cage and Sonic Repulsion. I went with Leadership on mine, so running the res debuff plus the bubble plus Charged Armor plus the two Leadership toggles (Assault and Tactics) ate up my blue bar pretty fast (hence Mu for Conserve Power and Power Sink). Still, it's a good combination, even though /Sonic is somewhat undervalued.

My sonic/sonic corrupter was my 2nd red-side 50 & was a lot of fun. I think the set is a reasonable soloist, with mez protection & an AoE sleep power. Once you have Siren's Song, you can solo safely, albeit slowly. Certain EBs will be extremely challenging, but that is what temps & inspirations are for.

The set is really fun on teams, as both your primary & secondary act as force multipliers. Your ability to pile -RES on enemies can be a real difference maker. Coupled with Scourge, AVs tend to go down fast.

I use 2 builds - 1 solo & 1 team. The solo build ditches the ally-only powers & relies heavily on Siren's Song & emergency use of the phase enemy power to get by. The team build grabs all of the ally-only powers & lays down as much -RES as possible. The 2 build approach means that powers that are skippable in one build are often essential in the other. If you are willing to invest the time to work 2 builds, I would suggest it highly as the best way to maximize your character's effectiveness.

Two words. "Dual builds."
Run one for teaming, with a little more emphasis on shields/clarity/etc. If you want to dip into leadership or whatnot, go in here, too - you'll have fewer attacks and such, but more team utility.

Set up the other one with more emphasis on your attacks and solo utility. You'll have some space in your solo build choices (not as much as, say, Thermal, where a solo build can skip almost all of the secondary) for the times teaming's a bit slow or you just want to kill some time on your own.
