With Going Rogue live today the servers are working overtime to keep up with everyone showing up. Its been months since I've seen Freedom and Virtue in the red for server load, and even the lesser populated servers like my home on Guardian are into the moderate load range. Combine that with the birthing pains associated with the launch and you'll notice a slowdown across the board.
That said, I don't know of any alternate downloads. Perhaps you can find a friend that has one of the boxed editions and will let you borrow it to install from a hardcopy? Then you only need to download the patches and Issues released since that boxed edition was released.
Oh, and as a side note, the trial is 14 days, not 7.

That's decidedly odd then, unless the length of the trial was changed and I missed the announcement.

hmmm. They must be using download caps on a per connection basis - I was holding steady at 128 K/sec and that just doubled to 256. Odd numbers if you're not a geek, but as a geek they're pretty recognizable.
Come on NCSoft - open up the floodgates!

Is there somewhere else to download this game? I'd like to try the demo, but my 7 days will be up before it finishes downloading. I'm a network engineer, so I have my end covered - CoH's servers are the problem and are only giving me 114 K/sec - been running for the past few hours and have only downloaded 400MB - it'd be done by now from Steam....
