Need some advice on how to roleplay with my brute.
Well it sounds like lots of random comments might be in order. If it is devouring minds and retaining them the personalities might not meld smoothly. Also it probably wouldn't have a great grasp of basic human relationship rules. Difficulty picking up on subtle social cues, that sort of thing.
Heroes : Angrem (50 Stone tank), Exo Inferis (50 Fire blaster), Exo Proteus (50 ill/emp), IceVengance (50 cold defender)
Villains : AtomBomb (50 Rad/Kin corruptor), Aleks (50 SS/Inv brute), StoneLethal (50 EM/Stone brute), Davroz (50 Bots/Dark mastermind)
Personally, I think if it's as amazingly intelligent as you say, it should have the grasp of what human interaction should be like, but from a completely cold and clinical standpoint. Like a classic sociopath, it should queue up emotions as is appropriate, but also be able to drop them in the blink of an eye.
Laughter should be short and false, with no lead-up or tailing off, and that sort of thing.
As for the insanity.. I'm not sure that word can be applied to a creature so very different from human as the Wrecks is. Certainly, it might behave irrationally from a human perspective, but... *shrug* It's something completely different than human.

Could one of yall provide an example of what you're talking about? I get the general concept of what you're saying, but I'm still not so sure how to execute it. By random comments do you mean literally random outbursts? Or do you mean sort of an extreme bipolar mood shift? I feel like that could work with my character. I really like the idea of having trouble blending the personalities. But can you provide an example of what that might look like in RP chat? Like I said, I'm just at a loss of words when there's an RP opportunity.
Raimi: God, she's just so beautiful. The camera sure loves that girl.
Tobey: Thank you, Sam

Actually, thinking about it I have a suggestion, you want to read Supergod by Warren Ellis. The entire theme is about super humans not being human. "Praying to be saved by a man who can fly will get you killed." Very good stuff and it touches a lot on the idea of non-human intelligences having very non-human motivations.

The best way I can imagine random outbursts that don't just look sorta cornily "Lookit me, ma, I'm kerrraaaazy!" is if the character keeps on having his absorbed personalities rise to the surface for a moment or two to give their opinion on situations.
Something like... off the top of my head,
SuperPerson: "Okay, there are eight Malta gunslingers in there, and just the two of us."
PotentialWrecks: "Alright, I'll take the ones on the left. I'll take them all. Let's wait for them to split up. Run away! Okay, I'm going in, back me up!" *goes*

I went to my local Barnes and Nobles to see if they had Supergod and they told me that it wasn't out yet. Any way that you got ahold of it?
Raimi: God, she's just so beautiful. The camera sure loves that girl.

I imagine that he would have no subtlety at all, he would know what it is and possibly even when to apply it. But he would probably be to impatient for it. Also, he would have a God complex and underestimate people, especially his foes. I imagine he would be aloof and tend away from large groups approaching mainly vulnerable potential targets. He would have no real friends or allies as he would be completely self absorbed.
Just my two-cents, thanks.
You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.
Silas' official theme song: Word Up!
Thanks for the responses guys! It definitely helps a lot and I'm gonna try to use it next time I RP. And Silas Gray, what exactly do mean by "it". What is it that he would know all about and possibly when to apply?
Raimi: God, she's just so beautiful. The camera sure loves that girl.
Tobey: Thank you, Sam
When Silas says "it" in the first couple of sentences he means subtlety. I stumbled a little reading that first time through.

Regarding the character concept:- I think...honestly what you have to do is get the voice right. You seem to have a pretty clear idea on the background and the fact it doesn't think in a human way...and that's enough. That's more than what many RPers have.
What you need to determine is how it speaks...word choice, sentence structure, that kind of thing. Does the character refer to itself in third person? Does it slur its speech? Does it snarl a lot?
As you noted, you had an easy time with one of your alts because all you had to do was 'talk Texan'. It's the same sorta deal here, I think. If you can decide how the character speaks, then that's your problem halfway solved right there.

as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
I would think a personality sort of like Dr Brennan/Bones on the show Bones. Having the intelligence to understand many things, but not when it comes to actual human interaction and occasionally saying things from a clinical outlook and lacking the empathy and human understanding to not just blurt something out that could be painful or embarrassing.
Sort of example:
Random super lady:"Do these tights make my butt look big?"
A-W: "No, the clothing has no bearing on the amount of excess fat on your body, and in your case much of it has gathered in the area of your hips and posterior. Perhaps you should attempt to get to a lighter weight through diet and exercise".
"Life is what happens when you are making other plans"
I have an SS/Invul brute that I used to play on Liberty that I transferred to Virtue a long time ago. I tried roleplaying with him but failed tremendously! (everyone thought I was a dog WTF!?) Well, I finally decided to delete the character and recreate him on Virtue in order to better establish a "home" here. Unfortunately, I never got around to recreating him and made a bunch of other toons instead. (which I was able to roleplay with quite nicely.) The time has come though that I'm finally going to reroll my brute.
His name is (The) Autosaurus Wrecks. (Hence my username and my global @A-Wrecks.) Now, I get a TON of compliments on the overall concept. I'm not going to reveal his origin, but you just need to know that he's just a guy in a big ugly hulking armor. Or so it would seem.....
Actually the armor is sentient.
In fact, it's a parasite. The human inside is actually just there to provide nourishment to the hunger of the Autosaurus Wrecks. The way the armor is able to usurp control of the wearer comes from the fact that its initial design involved a permanent graft between human and hardware, thus making the human brain vulnerable. What the armor is actually feasting on is the grey matter within his thick skull. Not the physical matter, but his conciousness. The overall process turns the victim into a drooling zombie of sorts, and the armor leaves no scraps behind. It sucks everything until all that's left is a vegetable. And then, he gets rid of it. The armor opens up, and deposits the mutilated body wherever it may be. The armor has these long snakelike tentacles that hold onto (and grasp) the body. And then, it searches for a new host to satisfy his voracious appetite. Using the same tentacles, he finds a new host and entwines him into the monstrosity of a machine. And the cycle repeats. With each conciousness the armor consumes, its own grows. The armor achieved sentience long ago, and now his intelligence is nothing short of cosmic. And he desires it to grow, and grow, and grow.
Well there you have it. I'm stuck right there. I just don't know how to reflect this in my dialogue. It was easy with Doctor Indopolis (I think I just got lucky. I met a lot of roleplayers) and with Sammie Houston. (All I had to do was talk like a Texan.) I was hoping yall could give me some advice like what yall would do with the character.
Here's a few things that come to mind when I think of my brute:
The armor speaks on his own, not through the host. I imagine his voice not sounding robotic at all. I kinda imagine something sounding kinda like Green Goblin. (Not like Willem Dafoe's Goblin.) As you could imagine, with all the "minds" he's consumed, it would also make him nothing short of insane. Also, he's anything but a brute, despite his disgustingly monstrous form. I imagine as far as mannerisms, something on par with Loki.
So, help guys? I know I'm being Kinda vague but I'm looking for advice on how the carry out the roleplay experience with this toon.
Raimi: God, she's just so beautiful. The camera sure loves that girl.
