because the retina is just light sensitive tissue on the inside of the eyeball. The part of the eye that actually contains color is called the iris.

@Crestent: Apologies for the slight thread detour man.
@DJ1: Briefly, no I don't go looking for stuff like that. I let my eyes wander over an image and things just pop out at me, it's harder to spot things
wrong in my own work though (I still do sometimes) and if there is text, I read it and misspelled words will sound wrong in my head lol.
That's the best way I can think to describe it. P.S. Don't knock stick figures... I got my start drawing stick figure ninjas as a kid.
