Say Something Nice: Round 3

We've been far too dour lately.

This one's not going to be like the other Say Something nice threads... Those get to a point where you have posters posting every other time to get as many people as possible patting them on the back... Granted, they're dishing out pats on other people's backs as well, but you get to a point where you want to say something about someone else, and that guy (sometimes me) has snatched up the complement for the friend you wanted to uplift.

So...

Since I feel there's been far too much negativity lately, let's start focusing on the positives.

Protector, I love ya. You're my home-away-from-home, even when I'm home. I come here to unwind and get away from stress in my life, and you provide ample decompression. You provide everything I'm looking for in my adventures: good friends, fun events, and great conversations.

For future posters, just come here to say something nice. About anyone or anything. This is supposed to be a thread of good vibes and expressions of joy and happiness, and there's no need to restrict any of them.

I'm not playing much these days, but when I do, It's always PROTECTUH!

You are all too wacky to keep me away for too long.

Ah... Protector... always responds to negativity with a "Say something nice" thread!

Good idea there, Grey...

... except it's been a hell of a week so far at work (short-staffed and I swear it's a full moon for all the %$?& weird requests we're getting...) so I'm more in the mood to kill someone, than say something nice....

So, the nicest thing I can think of at the moment is:

"Good idea there, Grey..."

I'll get back to you when it gets calmer... or when I've killed someone...

ah Protector how do I love thee, when life gets me down, I come for a visit and pummel baddies to my hearts content. The only thing that could make things better would be if there was a dodgeball event in the arena!

We are a family, in all the ways that count, the good and the not-so-good, we are a family.

Like so many others here, I've...

had grand adventures

met great people

made dear friends, and lost a few along the way

found solice in times of toil or personal loss

shared hearty laughs, the deepest ones at ourselves

learned to see through the eyes of others and opened a few too

passed on what I have learned

stood in awe of magnificent discoveries and some little ones as well

witnessed courage in unlikely places and faces

become a father, twice

and lost too many brave friends

Through these past six years, Protector has always been my online home. I chose her because I thought, "Heroes protect those who cannot fight for themselves". We are not perfect, not by any honest measure, but we are a family, of that I am certain.

My server 'tis of thee, sweet land of moar expee, of thee I sing
Place where the baddies die, place where the debt comes high
From ev'ry buildingside, we badassery bring.

Yeah, okay, it doesn't exactly rhyme, but you get the point. :P

I'm angry, mean, bitter, and obnoxious, and I've been that way for 72 months here. I love Protector because I don't think any other servers would take me, at this point. :P

I love the clouds at the edge of a thunderstorm... They're always so twisted and gnarled, a promise of the violence to come.

There's a peculiar beauty to them at that point.

I'm saying this because I just got done playing a game of hockey through a thunderstorm. It was so crazy and visceral...

I keep forgetting to say this, but I guess now is a good time-or really as good a time as any.

Grey, if it weren't for your accidental inviting of your global friends into a certain channel we both know and love, I would not have made many of the friends I have and love today, and I would probably not be playing the game still. Thank you -so- much for being a butterfingers at that precise moment in time. Those people lift my spirit, comfort me, and make me laugh every day, and I am proud to be one of them.

Hmmm, something nice, huh? My coworkers and subordinates wouldn't classify me as nice, or having feelings at all for that matter, but I digress.
I will say, however, that Protector as a community has been my favorite of all the servers I've visited. Low on population, high on quality. Just my kind of place.
