The contest is for the Mission Architect. The idea is to bring obscure writers with amazing arcs into the light and allow players to enjoy their arcs and them to be rewarded for their effort and creativity. Too many times are good writers left in the dust by popular people with sometimes mediocore or terrible arcs. I feel this could be a solution.
Entry Rules:
Each contestant enters ONE arc per individual.
No farms [Obviously!]
No adult-themed stories. [Have to think about the kiddies.]
Theme: NONE. This is a contest of creativity! Go wild! Imagine! Go out there! Be a horse of a different color!
No sagas or multiple-arc stories. [Its ONE arc per person. If you need to end it on a cliffhanger, fine. But don't add three arcs.]
Judging Process:
Each arc is tagged and given a number. You are not allowed to see the creator's name.
All of the arcs must be played for your vote to count. This will give everyone a fair chance at hitting the top. This is to try to avoid "popularity" trumping "Quality" [Edit: In other words, you can't say the "X" is the best when you havn't played "Z, W and J."]
Only after the contest can you see creator names. This is an attempt to avoid groups of friends creating biased votes. Granted, this will not be perfect, but its an attempt.
Developer votes count as 7 people. There are no other advantages to participants in voting.
Rewards:
The Highest rated arcs are named "Developer Choice".
The winner is allowed to add a badge as a reward for completing the arc.
Perhaps even a bit more. Maybe they could be allowed to help create a story line for a mission set for people leveling up in Praetorea. Its a far-fetched idea at most but it could work. This of course, is entirely up to the developer team as is having the contest itself.
If nothing else, its a nice opportunity to see what people think about your writing abilities. These are sometimes the kind of things needed to make the next big book or video game companies. [Remember the creators of Psychonauts? They were ex-employees of LucasArts, back when it made Monkey Island and Grim Fandango-type games.] Sometimes people need to test their abilities and see what people think about their work before putting money into it.
So, what do you think?

I think it's a good idea.
It also would probably get a better response in the Mission Architect subsection of the forums.

I approve. That is all I need to say.
to TO THE END! Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
