Can anyone tell me about this power, I have an Ice/Ice blaster and was thinking of specing into Chilling Embrace as well as Frozen Aura for a kind of PBAoE blaptrollerish feel. Any thoughts?

I have chilling embrace on mine. I like it. If your planning on going in melee range, make sure to get the CE/ice patch combo. It helps alot. Also look into Acrobatics for mez protection, I just specced into and love it.

Drop Frozen Aura tho. It's a PBAoE sleep that does no damage. And since you get it at level 38, most of the mobs have sleep resistance by then, not to mention AoE heavy teams will make this power useless.

However, if you really do want to get it, I recommend Frankenslotting it! The Fortunata (purple sleep set) Has a proc that does placate, which could be useful. And the Call of the Sandman set has a self-heal proc in it, also could be useful. Look at what other procs this power could take (can't remember if it takes slow sets), since having this power do something extra than what it does currently is the only way I could see this power becoming useful...

Blaster Frozen Aura isn't the same as the new and improved Tanker Frozen aura. It's just a sleep.

Well, maybe you can slot the heal proc in it and dream about it becoming drain psyche's much much much much much lesser cousin.

Chilling embrace is the same as the tanker version but I don't think it's a good fit with Ice/Ice if you already have shiver and the innate slows from ice attacks. Elec/ice maybe.

You could just use your second build and make it ranged def capped. then you can have your s/l capped build do ITFs and range capped build for just about everything else.

I got Chilling Embrace and Ice Patch on my Ice/Ice blaster. You can soft-cap for S/L using a lot of Curtail Speed IOs, which makes it relatively inexpensive (it does use two Kinetic Combat sets).

It's not easy mode, however. You still need to carry a lot of Break Frees and greens. But you can solo at +0/x4 or higher, depending on the enemies you're fighting. And if you're fighting alongside a tanker or brute, you can do a lot of damage while providing decent mitigation.

You'll mostly only see Sleep protection on mechanical enemies (Nemesis Jaegars, Malta Titans, Council robots, etc). Though only seen early-game, I actually like how Sleeps have a delayed effect on Clockwork and wouldn't mind seeing that duplicated late game for some enemies.

Admittedly, FA doesn't mesh well with AoE-focused powersets and Sleeps, in general, are pointless on teams as only 2.5% of the playerbase work well with Sleeps (which is less that half than those that understand Confuse).

Call of the Sandman isn't a bad set to use in Frozen Aura, since it has a chance to proc on a per-enemy basis. Sadly, the heal really isn't anything to write home about, but the set in general is pretty good in Frozen Aura. The other plus-side to CotS is that since it is a Sleep set it should be fairly cheap at WW/BM.

Also, Frozen Aura has as awesome animation.
