Installed it, need to download again?
How fast is it downloading? There was just a patch yesterday which it might be applying instead of actually downloading things. It looks an awful lot like it's redownloading 3Gb again but it'll go a lot faster.
EDIT: Also, the technical forum is in the Development section, 6 forums down from the top.
Heya. Couldn't find a technical forum so posting here. I downloaded the trial version and ran it once, worked fine so I turned it off to finish what I was doing at the time. When I try to run it again it tells me I need to run the game through the updater. Fair enough, WoW does the same thing. So I do so and it starts to download the game again. 3,1gb once more. What's going on here? I can only play it after I've gone through the download process again and again? Any advice is appreciated, looking forward to trying the game but this kind of stuff is annoying.

Your best bet would be to ask on the Technical Issues & Bugs forum, that's where all our most tech-savvy players hang out...
... and even if I'm not one of them (hence I'm here and not there ), I know that the game will download patches on a regular basis, so maybe that's what happening.
But you say it says "3.1 GB" again ? Humm... maybe it is not downloading per se, but only installing the patch - it does have to go thru all 3.1 GB of files to see what needs to be fixed or not...
Again, this is my non-techy evaluation. Go to the other forum if you want the real deal !

Oh sorry, I looked but totally missed that forum.
But it's downloading at between 100-200 k/sec which is about normal for this connection. So it's exactly like it downloaded the first time and it's the same size file (3,1gb). Not entirely sure what to do.
ETA: I'll make a new post in the tech forum, thanks for the directions.
Problem's been fixed! Thanks.
So what was the resolution?
Just a mis-reading between actual downloading and the "apply" of the patch?
One thing we do here is when somebody has a problem and it gets resolved, we like
to know what the resolution was. That way we can easily reference it if somebody
else comes in with the same problem.

Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
From the other thread, the temporary work around was to add -project coh to skip the updater.
Next patch though he'll have to re-download everything again.
Yeah, I noticed he went over to the support forum after I had replied.
It's a strange issue though.
Skipping the updater is moderately OK as a temporary work-around but isn't actually solving anything.
I'm hoping we'll be able to figure out the common denominator of the issue eventually.
It's not just Win 7. I'm running Win 7 (64 bit) on two seperate machines, with both regular installs (installed via AE edition disc) and test server installs (directory copies) and neither machine has had any issues like this.
I'm wondering if it might not be some issue with using a Non-Administrator user account. I have seen an occasional issue where Win 7 suddenly denies my Non-Admin account write access to some directory -- but then lets me in on the next access attempt...
