Bored of the World Cup?

Tired of watching overhyped, overpaid sportsmen do 90 minutes work poorly and get lauded for it?
Annoyed with them passing the buck and blaming each other for their own failings?
Driven mad by the incessant buzzing of plastic horns?

Then watch the tennis instead. There's always a winner and a loser... eventually...

The day before yesterday a truly epic match got underway between John Isner of the US and Nicholas Mahut of France. Thanks to the "No tie break in the 5th" rule they have 2 days later it's still going on. over 9 hours of tennis, 118 games in the 5th alone and still no winner. It's now deadlocked at 59-59 and resumes again today at 16:00.*

Oh and the Queen is turning up today as well, although I suspect she didn't have to queue outside the gate* all night for tickets.

Was following this on a website that broke and reset to 0-0 at 50 each.

Previous record for aces in a match was 78, they've both served 90+.

The final set has lasted longer than any other whole match in history.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

* The previous ace record is particularly funny because it was set by Ivo Karlovic and he actually lost the match. And he was beating his previous record, which was against Hewitt in the French, which he also lost.

(Man people on Wikipedia are fast, I went to check Karlovics profile to see when he set the 78 ace record and someone has already updated it to say Isner now holds the title and Mahut also surpassed it)
