Wow. That is an awesome depiction! And *supplied in the space of five hours. I love it! You sure you'd be able to post me a print? I *live in the UK.

I think he was proposing to send you a large file of the image by email. One which, if printed, would look better than if you tried to print this one.

The printing is up to you, here's the actual size head, you tell me if you want it... send me a private message with your email, and I'll give you the file. Glad you liked it... it didn't take 5 hours, maybe 1.

Oh I see.

It is even better close-up and in full size.

I'll PM you my mail address.

Looks like he's fixing the BP oil spill.

^.^

LJ, you did a fantastic job! Priest looks totally kool! But the rain, the lightning and the shadowing are just awesome! Gratzzz Pious!

Thanks VexXxa, got some new brushes today, the rain brush just makes you want to use it all day. This was just a quickie, kind of sloppy in my opinion, just haven't found my grove since I went away... I think it has to do with the funk I'm in. Long story. But beggars can't be choosers, and hey it's free.

Free is win! But I like it either way. Priest is an elementalist so the rain and lightening speaks volumes about the character.

Damsel is only joking, but trying to go fix the oil spill is exactly the type of thing Priest would do. I like the exaggerated length of the cape... is he standing in shallow water? Like a flooded land? Oh he's counteracting the storm isn't he? Trying to calm it and avert disaster; save the town from more flooding. Man the more I think about it the more I read into it. I love it. In one hour you've captured the very essence of this character. You read through the backstory didn't you?

Posted

Pi... he's kneeling.

...on wet ground.

Posted

Oh... so he is. Well you know what they say about art and viewer interpretation. To me, he's still saving a flooded village.

Posted

I may tweak it later, the artist in me is a little embarrassed. And yes I did read some of your back story, a very interesting character.

Posted

Thanks. I've grown rather attached to the character in fact.

Anyway if you do retouch it, could you do us a widescreen crop? Having some trouble fitting this copy into my desktop wallpaper.

For me, it all depends on:

1) how I feel that day
2) if I've ever given you art before
3) how you ask for it
4) if I like your character to begin with

I can't speak for other artists who may also do this kind of thing, we had that pay it forward thread a few months ago, I thought that was cool.

Edit: thank you for the kind words everyone...

Can't speak for the rest but I'm with LJ, it depends on what's going on any given day, how much spare time I have, if the costume/backstory catches my eye etc...

My 40 in 60 challenge was mostly just anyone who asked and put up a ref had a good shot of getting free artz but I've also done them as prizes for contests, art trades... heck just for commenting on one of the "hundreds" post in my thread.

Granted I don't have LJ's digital skillz (yet ) but point is it never hurts
to ask cuz ya never know around here what might happen.

Sidenote: Juggertha has a sticky thread on requesting fan art... it's a good one to look over.

P.S. Cool stuff ya did here Bobby. Was that rain brush something you downloaded?

Thanks also for the wallpaper LJ. It looks amazing. The missus is so totally jealous.

Even so, that's a heckuva lot better chance of getting something good than I've seen on any other forum I've ever been on. I've never asked for art before because everywhere else I've been, to even mention that you would like a character drawing for free is downright rude. And if someone's offering, you can bet anything they won't be anywhere near this good.
