Last time I looked in the Tech Section of the Foruns ATI were having lots of problems. I myself have never had a problem with Nvidia on any game. I'd stick with what works, Nvidia

I have NVidia myself. Even though I have quad-core and 5 gigs RAM, I still have lag problems at above Performance settings. In any case, I think the UM is overrated. Not because I can't play in it, but because it really doesn't enhance my gameplay.

Dual Channel setups only work with Ram counts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12gigs...
Triple Channel (I7) setups only work with Ram counts 3, 6, and 12gigs.
You'll probably actually improve performance by getting off an odd quantity of memory.

The short version is: If you are buying a Desktop or a Medium range laptop, buy AMD. AMD is the current graphics partner of the game, not Nivida.
Also: Nvidia cards have just as many issues with the game: just drop by the tech forums sometimes and check out how many people needed to update their Nvidia drivers... which... incidentally, was the same fix for AMD cards.
If you are buying a high-end laptop though... and you can get an Nvidia GTX 200 series card: the GTX 260m, GTX 280m, or GTX 285m, these are actually the fastest mobile graphics cards you can buy.
Nvidia has end-of-lifed these chips and there will be no replacements. This means that much like the current Desktop Nvidia cards, prices will skyrocket. If you are buying in August / September and you want one of these monster chips, chances are you will get ripped off in buying one.
I think if you buy me one of each, I will get back to you with a well-informed opinion on the matter. O.O

On my desktop i have 4 gigs of ram on a dual core 2.6 ghz machine with a geforce 260. I can run UM settings pretty well on 1024x768 ( I haven't updated my monitor yet).
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

I am looking at gaming laptops and the best ones are using ATI Radeon instead of Nvidia. This is my only MMO and it states that it is meant to be played on Nvidia, however.... I seem to remember that before they were like, wooo hoo Nvidia, they were promoting a different graphics card that could not handle the game past a few updates to COX, and it took them a while to promote Nvidia as the better one to have. With the graphic improvements that are making several buddies of mine get terrible lag or d/c, I am wondering if perhaps COX needs to also improve it's graphic requirements for playing the game? I will be getting a new gaming/school laptop in August or September and I am looking for some assistance. Should I go with what the laptop industry is saying is the better gaming chip, the ATI Radeon, even the overpriced and beautiful Alienware now uses this chip, or stick with Nvidia, since that's what COX currently says is best for this game?
