Shader Quality Stuck on "High"
Safe Mode?

Shader quality gets locked to high if ANY ultra mode options are enabled. Go through the list and kill em off.

I certainly can't run Shader Quality High, but I can turn on most of the UM options on low/medium. So if I want to run ANY UM features, I *have* to run Shader Quality High? Not right. Not right at all.

Aha. That would be it. Turning off all of the Ultra settings let me play with the Shader setting.

Thanks.
Sort of odd, but the framerate problem seems (at least for the moment) to have cleared up now. I turned off all the Ultra settings and noticed a marked improvement in performance (yeah, common sense, I know.) Playing with the shader at that point seemed to have little effect, so I set it back to high. I then restored the Ultra settings one by one to where they'd been before disabling. And now I'm not seeing any issues.
I know it wasn't just a momentary instance before. I suffered through it for two hours before I got fed up and it persisted through several restarts of the game.
Not that I'm not a little bothered by the issue just up and disappearing, but I suppose it'll do.

Ultra Mode requires the OpenGL 3.0 shaders, which are "High" quality.
And, of course, they completely re-did the shader controls in the 6/8 patch without documenting the change.
Wonder what else was changed. My performance in Mercy dropped by 15FPS.
Be well, people of CoH.
I noticed after today's patch that I was experiencing some significant loss of framerate compared to last night.
Checking my graphics settings, I noticed that Shadow Quality was set to "Low". That didn't look right, so I adjusted it to "Lowest".
I also noticed that Shader Quality was set to "High". I thought I'd try playing with that setting a little and see if it made a difference. Problem is, no matter how many times I click on it, it's stuck on "High". I tried quitting out of the game, restarting, and coming back in. No joy. Still stuck on "High."
Now, I don't know if adjusting my Shader Quality is even going to help with the broader issue of my new inability to stand inside the Tech store in Talos and type without the game stuttering, but not being able to adjust that setting is a nuisance in and of itself.
Anyone have any suggestions I might try?
