Ruter issues via Two Computers. Port Forwarding.
Well I'll be darned. Tried once more to connect, and it went right through. Ok, Ignore this one I suppose, have no idea what I did.

Just to put things in perspective, I've never had to forward ports on my routers for CoH. I've run multiple computers with the game running with no problem.
As recently as just a few weeks ago, so it still works after Issue 17.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Any NAT-capable router (which yours almost certainly is, unless you bought some early-90's surplus somewhere) should be able to handle this automatically. In fact, trying to set up port forwarding is probably what gave you troubles in the first place.
Hey thanks again all.
Hehe, you know what Starjammer, you are more than likely right on that.
Stephen
Yeah, port forwarding is completely unneeded here. A NAT firewall should have no issue handling this for you. Port forwarding is more for connections from the outside that need to be routed to a specific machine behind the firewall. These connections are usually externally initiated, meaning you didn't ask for them to happen. This would include things like having a web server running behind your firewall. The connections are initiated by the outside users who want to see your web page. The firewall in this case forwards the traffic to the web server for resolution as opposed to say, your desktop or laptop. When you connect to CoH, you initiate the traffic and connections and the router is smart enough to follow along and see that all traffic related to that connection is routed correctly. If your wife joins in the fun, the router is again smart enough to recognize what traffic is for you and what is for her.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
Hi all, Me again, with a new problem for me.
I recently decided to put COX on another PC, so that if my wife want's she can play. I have three accounts, and can play all three on one PC if I need to transfer items/Salvage between toons etc.
Now I have set up port forwarding on my Belkin Router, for my first PC. No problems, easy as pie.
But when I enter the same ports for the second PC, It won't accept them. I believe this is because they are already in use with the first PC.
So how do you all manage to play on more than one PC? Do I just ignore the port forwarding, on the second, and hope it connects? Mind you theis is not wireless at all, But connected via Cat5.
I had read when I searched the boards that there was problems with Wireless, so I didn't go that way.
Using Win7 Ultimate 64, on both machines.
Any ideas friends?
Stephen
PS sorry for spelling error in title of Router.
