Paragon's Top Modelsheet...

Awww. It was RELATIVELY a lot, but for making a model sheet, exactly what I needed. Its made for some nice results thus far, says I.

Below is a pretty good example of the kind of model sheet one would receive if one were to win the contest. This sheet is destined for coloring, so the linework is slightly less refined than what I would do for a winner, and is also lacking a couple finishing touches (like the character name or a couple stats).

Janet Planet, Attache's little sci-fi cutie:

As an extra, he also added a hairstyle reference sheet (this sort of thing is an extra charge):

Ok, just a heads up that this ends sometime SUNDAY so if you plan on getting an entry in, get it in soon!

Edit because I had the ending day wrong! oooops!

I'm not sure what the things around her ankles are. It's really unclear in the sheet.

They are extra-special spacey rings for extra sci-fi power!

Part of the reason I sent so many references was to bump Janet away from the game model. I've always made characters - I used to doodle them in my youth - but I can't really draw and CoH is a good outlet for that desire. Although she's in CoH, I don't really consider her a game character. If I intend to have art done of her, there are going to be changes from the game model.

Those ankle rings are part of that process and will be clearer in the finished product.

I suggest having the boot with it's own detail close up then. It's too difficult to tell what it is at that horizontal angle. A 3/4s top view would do a lot to show clarity in it's design.

I dunno, I suspect color will really help to seperate them from the boot and even if it wasn't still totally obvious a simple note like "The circles around the ankles of the boot are much like the rings of Saturn" would probably suffice..

Posted

Thanks for the feedback, Suichiro. Since I made the rings, it was too easy for me to know what they were, so its good to know that they're not coming out that way to others. They're just a costume element to tie in with her shoulder rings.

I'll specifically focus on tightening those up in the inks/colors, but if they're still looking confusing, it might be worth switching one gun detail for a boot detail.

I'd so want one for Sapphic Neko

I had to look again, really close. But sadly, they're not panties. Unless they fold-out like a suitcase-delivered Ironman outfit.

Nope, just good ol' Saturn rings.

You did a really beautiful job on Janet Planet, Miss Wassy!

I particularly loved Hair Style #2 (upper right corner).

The rings on Janet's boots were quite obvious to me (but, then again, I *do* have enhanced Supa-Kittehvision)!

Beautiful work all around, Miss Wassy! (*HUGGLES*)

I never stated a specific time this would end today so in the interest of giving any last minute entries as much time as possible I will shut down entries at 11:59pm Eastern time...

I'll try to announce the winner (or winners) sometime Monday but will definitely get the deciding and anouncing done by Wednesday. (Hey, I'm a lazy procratinator, deal with it!)

Remember, you are free to still enter, or to modify your entry up until the deadline...

Name: Lillika Leandros (Often just called "Lill" or "Lilli.")
AT: A flying Energy/Energy Blaster
Age: 27
Height: 5'10
Hair: White
Eyes: Sky Blue

Physical Description: A brief description would be Felicia Hardy (as Black Cat) looks on a Carol Danvers body. Starting at her head, Lillika has a full head of long soft white hair that cascades down to the middle of her back. Her soft blue eyes are usually concealed by a small black mask with completely white eye holes. A small nose and plump red lips (usually curved up into a smirk) also adorne her face. Lillika posseses an athletic body type that manages to keep its soft feminine curves (hourglass shaped body ofcourse.) An ample chest sits just above a set of toned and well defined abs which in turn melt into wide hips. Her legs stand out almost on their own due to the powerful looking thighs and calves. (Ms. Marvel has the most fantastic legs to me and thats how I shaped Lillika's own.)

Costume Description: Small black mask covering her eyes, though not much else. Her body is wrapped tightly in a black and red leather one piece. Black buckles on her wrists and calves secure black/white gloves and boots to her outfit. On her chest is a symbol depicting 3 phases of the moon in black and white. When Lillika is dressed to fight crime and evil there is a strong glowing aura coming from her eyes, revealing the power stored within. When in flight, Lillika is surrounded by a full body glowing aura (the same color as the light coming from her eyes) that leaves a small trail behind her. (Think Green Lantern on the Aura)

Lillika Symbol Reference: http://a.yfrog.com/img444/585/lillikasymbol.jpg

Personality Description: Lillika is not lacking in confidence like so many other female superheroes are. Infact her overconfidence (almost bordering on arrogance) seems to pour out of her, and she carries herself to reflect that. Always smirking and never showing abit of concern in a fight, she usually will seek out the biggest meanest looking badguy and quickly engage them in battle. Outside of crime fighting she is a mostly normal woman who suffers from one great weakness: Clothes shopping. Often broke because of this, Lillika tries to keep a cheerful demeanor even while trying to make ends meet and balance her private life and life as a superhero.

Short BG Info Regarding Powers: Though she doesn't talk much about it, Lillika's powers didn't start out as all her own. After a strange series of events, Lill found she had inherited this inner "galactic energy" from a dying alien. While seemingly inexhaustible, this new found energy needed to be recharged at every full moon she had learned. Recharging it simply required her to spend the night basking in the moonbeams of the night, but it was important it be done or she could lose all she gained. (This is the short and to the point version of the story.)

ok, closed to new entries!

Will be back with results... When I am back with results

Alrighty, my decision has been made...

Before I announce them I'd like to point out that my decisions were mainly based upon very subjective feelings and opinions upon which characters would most benefit in future arts from having a character sheet done to make sure all the details were perfect. It wasn't about which concepts I liked best, who did the best job selling their character or anything like that...

All in all I figured the character sheets were best done for those who I felt needed the most changes from in game screenshots done and/or who I felt had the most specific view of their character in their heads. Mostly it was just a vibe I got from reading the entries and not neccessarily anything definable...

I will note this in case I ever run this kind of contest again: Although I didn't spell it out specifically, one thing I was looking for was why YOU needed a character sheet as opposed to just using screenshots. Yeah, it's become a common accepted fact that the sheets are preferred but I think we can all accept that characters who the owner envisions most different from what can be done in game are the ones in the most need of such reference sheets. So if I do this again, I'd suggest you list just exactly what changes the character on the screen needs to make them into that character in your head...

Ok, I've dragged this on long enough...

The Winners Are:

Ebon3 & Draggynn

Congratulations to you both - Please send Wassy a PM to start the process

And I would truly like to thank each and every entry. This was not an easy selection process, and like I mentioned, a lot just ended up being based on my gut and vibes. *shrug* All of the characters are cool in their own ways but alas, I am too poor to buy everyone a model sheet

Oh... And, if she wants it, I did decide to give away one consolation prize...

Sorry if this is a bit presumptious of me, but I felt like a full blown model sheet for your character just wouldn't be as helpful as it would be for some of the other characters. Basically, I took it upon myself to decide that a pencil sketch would be better for you. Like I said, it may be presumptuous of me and for that I apologize... But while your character probably is the most unrealizable in the game (is unrealizable a word?) I just decided that a full blow Wassy sketch was the better way to go...

I'll understand if your mad and disagree and refuse the consolation prize but I'm really hoping you understand and accept it... for no other reason than I'm dying to see Wassy go all out on a pencil sketch of Amerikatt.

Night Hornet

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Night Hornet has a magic origin and basically his life is a mess. He’s often moody and drinks vodka very heavily, for a hero he also knows the better part of valour more than others, although that’s not to say he can’t be heroic either.

The problem that he has, is that he is haunted by a voice and sometimes a vision of his dead father. The voice appears to be some sort of deity or creator and often pre-empts events, these moments have sometimes given Hornet a possible insight into the fact that he may well be a character in a game or a comic rather than being “real”, he has so far chosen to ignore this.

He is tormented by the fact he remembers two pasts – one where he grew up as a lonely kid in an orphanage and another where a magic spell went wrong granting him powers but also killing his father at the same time. The “voice” explaining this as “I wanted to make your bio more realistic” has only confused him further.

Night Hornet can often be seen sitting on the top of skyscrapers pondering about his reality.

Night Hornet is a Dual Blades/Willpower Scrapper and yellow tinted vanguard blades are his weapon of choice.

OOOO!!! YAY! Thanks a million Caemgen! And congrats to Ebon and Amerikatt as well! I thought everyone had great character concepts and I look forward to seeing more art of all of them! I will be in touch with Wassy right away.

And on a side note, I hope Wassy isn't too upset that it's two male characters

I have it on good authority that since drawing males in a couple figure drawing classes for a year, Wassy is actually looking to do more comic style males.
