Hey guys,

I know there used to be a post on how to hyper thread your dual processors so that instead of each processor running at 50%, they each ran at 100% during cox. I recently reinstalled cov, and i need to get it hyper threaded up again, but after doing a forum search, i can't find the post. can anyone help me? do you know the command that i add to the desktop icon, or can you link me to that post? The last time i needed/read the post it was well before the forum update, and the new cox page look.

Thanks a ton,

Z.

If you mean enabling dual core (the -renderthread flag) then the game has it enabled by default for a while now. If you still want to force it, here's the section at ParagonWiki: CoH Not Using Dual CPUs

CoH Not Using Dual CPUs

Dual core processors are becoming extremely popular, however CoH doesn't always detect and use both processors (and this is especially true in Vista).
CoH is supposed to detect the dual processors automatically but that code is currently buggy. May as well put it in yourself and force the issue. Even hyperthreading processors can take advantage of renderthread!-Zloth
Correcting this is similar to the Missing Pointer fix above.
  1. Right click your desktop shortcut for the City updater.
  2. Select 'Properties'. Make sure you are in the 'Shortcut' tab.
  3. Select the 'Target' field. It should look something like this: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
  4. Add -renderthread 1 to the end of the target, so that it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -renderthread 1 If you have installed your game to the default location, you can copy and paste the line above into your target field.

If you're referring to the -renderthread switch, I believe CoX defaults to using it now, meaning you do not have to add it anymore.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

In fact, some people have said that they still try to use it (just in case the default breaks or changes back), and even reported getting an error message in their chat window. The game will still run fine, but it seems to not like the command much anymore. lol

You are correct, it's an outdated command.
