Recommendations for a new dom?

Hey guys,

I've tried doms a few times and never really got into them but I'm going to give them another shot.
So what would you guys recommend? I'm open to any builds.

This would be for solo or teams, depending on what I find on Virtue.

The two I've managed to get through the doldrums (22, when you get SOs) are an Earth/Fire and an Ice/Psi.

Earth/Fire is nice at the moment because it can work well from range. Getting into melee on teams at the mo is a bit of a nightmare (literally) thanks to all the howling cow-demons running on teams. Decent damage and excellent control. Works very well on teams.

My Ice/Psi works better in melee (so in the middle of the howling cows) so I've put them on ice for the mo. He is more self-sufficent in terms of survivability than the Earth/Fire and his end built looks to be impressively strong in terms of being able to take damage (for a Domi) but that's end game. The Earth/Fire (or anything/Fire) kicks his **** in terms of damage output.

Mind/Fire would probably be better as a soloist and Plant/Fire would be better in terms of AOE damage but Earth/Fire is a great "disable the entire spawn for the team" character who can then kick out a lot of damage. But you can generate a lot of hate very quickly on Villain teams and die in the blink of an eye when your AOE control suddenly wears off.

Earth/Fire or Plant/Fire.

Plant because it gets very good control early in the game and will let you really feel how strong doms are pretty much right out of the gate. Additionally, nothing will ever surpass the damage /fire does so it is a sound choice for late game too.

Earth because it creates a very large margin for error by having quite a few very powerful controls and because the -def will let you succeed where other toons wiff and die. Especially in the early game where lots of teams have a tendency to set the difficulty higher than it should be.

Mind/fire is a good choice if you want to solo. It has an abundance of single target control backed by the high damage of /fire. It feels very powerful right out of the gate too, but in a different way than plant (single targets vs entire spawns) It is worth noting that all the sets except gravity will solo faster post pets though. Plant, not because of its pet, but because of seeds.

I like the sound of the Earth/Fire. I think I'll go with that.

Thanks guys.
