The Two Six: Season 3 ((Open RP))
"So why you? Horton's a Bone Daddy. What's he need with you?" |
She paused, then raised an eyebrow, "And he paid me. Not a lot, but my rent is due next tuesday."
From a pocket, she pulled out a nail file and began to work on her nails, as if she was gossiping at Pocket D.

"Well Mrs. Killjoy, he’s on the left. Hole'd up with his precious proximity explosives."

"perhaps I can use telekinesis to hover over the ground above them?"
(( Ninjin, you're confusing characters... Caleb is in SH102, not this thread? ))
Once his peripheral caught sight of Abbie, a large hand lurched forward to grab at Duskblade's neck and toss her into Warpshroud's direction. |
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: STOP!
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: WAIT ONE SECOND!
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: WHAT IS A SEAGULL DOING ON MY THRONE!?!?
As soon as her sword buried itself in the troll's ribs, Duskblade knew she was in trouble, if that wasn't bad enough the thing screamed loudly enough to make her twitch in pain. She reacted by thrusting her other blade at it's right leg, though whether it connected she never knew for the giant grabbed her by the neck. She felt as if her head would pop, letting go of her blades, she grabbed his wrist and pulled some of his life force into herself to keep from having her throat crushed.
Being flung away like a pesky fly wasn't so bad, but having a Nova's blast hit you in the back of the head could ruin your day. Lady Duskblade tumbled end over end across the roof, narrowly missing the other heroine. She suddenly came to a stop at the edge of the building, reddish tendrils of smoke billowing around her. Her eyes, or rather the black pools that served for them anyway, began burning red.
Blood chilling laughter filled the air, seemingly coming from everywhere at once. Lady's form began to twist and her robe was torn asunder by armored plates that covered her from neck to foot, huge metallic wings burst from her back and a barbed black tail exploded from her spine. Lastly, an impossibly wide, fang mouthed, grin spread across the formerly empty space where her mouth should be.
This happened in just a few heartbeats but time seemed to slow as the air got colder, a pair of wicked black swords appeared in the things hands and it charged, the tips of the blades ripping gauges from the rooftop. It spoke as It came at the green monster, "no more playtime! Smoke is gonna RIP YOU IN TWO!"

Quex considered Dreg's suggestion. Their prey had retreated to a strong defensive position and they would need some kind of advantage. This could be it. His confusion powers worked well on Darkgloom, and Horton wouldn't be nearly as resistant.
Looking up at the hole in the ceiling. Quex considered waiting for Warpshroud to finish up with the Troll beast, but shook her head. That was a secondary target, and it was running around town amidst several thousand superheroes. It would be caught.
"Good plan." she finally said to Dreg, "But I will be distraction."
Grabbing Darkgloom by the arm, the woman raised an eyebrow, "And you are going to point out traps to me. Its your interest."
The dark woman grinned, "For my negotiation with the DA?"
Quex grinned, "No. Because you go first."
With a shove, she got Darkgloom moving into the hallway.

The crime scene technicians had arrived, more promptly than Kasoh had given them credit for, and Force forbid his extensive knowledge of the human body be used, but no, he was pushed to the side and since Agent MacKenzie had his computer, his hands were uselessly stuffed in his pockets.
Bored, he pulled out some random syringes and calculated portions for a lethal poison.
Irene made a pleased purring noise which Kasoh assumed was entirely unconsciousshe didnt seem the typeand handed the computer back, Mapquest in his browser history has the address of a warehouse in Independence Port.
Sounds like a solid lead. How old?
He looked it up last night.
Ill get the car.
Lets swing by the warehouse where the others went; I want to talk to Horton before I commit to that warehouse. If its the wrong place, hitting it will tell the Family off, and our chances of success drop.

The troll, I think.... might pay to watch yourself anyway.
Good plan, let's go with that.
And so she did, continuing to battle the troll while keeping one eye on the.... whatever that was. Some kind of demon, she thought.
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: STOP!
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: WAIT ONE SECOND!
[Admin] Emperor Marcus Cole: WHAT IS A SEAGULL DOING ON MY THRONE!?!?
Dreg focused his mind and once more became hard to see as he manipulated people to ignore him. This didn't have as much of an impact on those he wants to see him thought. Then he lifted up off the ground. "Alright lets get going and take down this Skull leader."
With that he moved hovering just inches below the ceiling as he headed in the direction of Horton's fortified room. He went slowly trying to spot any traps.
Oh yeah, that wasn't good. Abbie dropped back to the roof as she shifted directly from Nova to Dwarf form, charging at the overgrown Troll with a savage roar. Placing herself between it at the other heroine she attempted to attract its attention by swiftly punching it in the face with one massive claw, in the hopes it'd focus on her rather than the apparently not as tough as she looked other one.
The blow to Mr. Bones' face sent a thunder crack of pain through his jaw. He jumped back near the edge of the roof. A portion of brain had deteriorated into a blank state of rage. For the first time, he thought to form a coherent thought that might have benefited him versus grabbing, throwing, or screaming. With the presence of two heroes, the green giant was left with few options. They'd give chase if he ran and the battle wasn't exactly in his favor so he did the best he knew how to do.
It spoke as It came at the green monster, "no more playtime! Smoke is gonna RIP YOU IN TWO!" |
"BRING IT," the troll bellowed toward both heroes with focused eyes and a slowly returning thought pattern that just might save his life.

"Good plan." Quex finally said to Dreg, "But I will be distraction."
Josiah raised an eyebrow at the idea. Was she always the one to throw herself on the bombs?
Grabbing Darkgloom by the arm, the woman raised an eyebrow, "And you are going to point out traps to me. Its your interest."
The dark woman grinned, "For my negotiation with the DA?"
Quex grinned, "No. Because you go first."
With a shove, she got Darkgloom moving into the hallway.
Crap! We're going now. And we're taking her, Josiah's mind raced for asecond while he looked back and forth between the hallway and the direction where the exit was. He needed more ammo. It wasn't a far trip from there and back so he wasn't sure why he was so stressed out over it.
"I... umm... I need to go to the truck. Re-prepare. Be right back," Josiah yelled out as he ran full speed toward the exit.
Josiah slammed the doors open and found almost every gun pointed in his direction. He almost fell backwards with hands raised upwards.
"Rookie!" Captain Hammer yelled and beckoned for Josiah at his position, "Stand down, back to post!" The other men immediately continued spotting on the roof or preparing to surround the building once they heard word from the inside.
"What's the status," Captain Hammer reluctantly asked of Josiah.
The young soldier looked at Captain Hammer and then opened up the doors to the weapons vehicle as he spoke, "Took out a group of Skulls and currently holding the secondary target, Emily Darkgloom, for navigation into the rest of the bomb-laced building. Assumption is she'll tell us the location of the explosives lest she has a death wish."
By the time he was done speaking, Josiah had reloaded his pistols with new mags and grabbed a utility belt complete with extra ammunition.
"We'll send word soon as we have aquired the primary target," he said as he jogged backwards and back into the building.
"See that you do, Rookie," the Captain called after Josiah, "Waiting is not our strong suit," he continued to himself.
The hallway was dark and poorly lit, the light from several small yellow light bulbs making swarthy patches of darkness in-between small fits of light. Large crates hastily pushed into an impromptu maze kept the view obstructed. A few intelligible whispers could be heard, but pinpointing their location in the gloom would be difficult without extra sensory abilities.
It was obvious the Skulls had prepared for PPD assault, as well as most ground based foes, but since few Skulls could fly the amount of traps above waist height were few in number. The most annoying was the strings of Piano wire to keep fliers at a reasonable speed, reasonable enough to shoot at anyway.
Walking and chatting as if she were trying to sell something, Darkgloom pointed out several of the more obvious traps, occasionally noting a flaw in PPD tactical response that prompted the placement of one device at someplace or another.
Quex poked the bracer that contained Darkglooms shield and was pleased when the black disk appeared on her arm. Sword in one hand, she kept a close eye on where Darkgloom stepped, and where she avoided. The prattle was interesting enough, as her own forays into trap setting went, but the kind of information she could acquire just by watching was much more valuable.
The Gunners. Quex prompted as she stepped over a mine, then deactivated it.
Ah, little machine gun nests. Two boys apiece, with a heavy assault rifle and a Cryo Freeze Rifle between them. The boxes were stepping between open into the cutest little killzones. I really wish I could take credit for the idea, but its something Ive been on the receiving end before.
Theres four gun positions to pass before we get to the other room. Emily added, slowing down to point out a tripwire attatched to a bucket of Draino.
I wanted acid, but Jack doesnt have any.

Using his mental powers to avoid being noticed he drifted in the air approaching the first gun nest. He almost had to hand walk on the ceiling so not to bang his head. He couldn't tell where those motion detection bombs were but very few people look up.
Even if these Skulls were smart enough to think that heroes can fly that didn't mean they could booby trap the ceiling.
He wasn't right over the nest but he was close. Now for what attack his mental powers were effective but they were attacks if he missed just one or that one didn't get caught in the power effects this plan could go south very fast.
The only choice then was confuse even if he failed to manipulate the target chances are they wouldn't notice. So with that he focused on his first choice the gunner on the right.
Dan kind of liked their new setup. It reminded him of his favorite level in Half Quake 7. The narrow corridors and gun stations. He was really good at throwing grenades into those gunholes from around corners. Of course, He wasn't going to get to play tonight, what with Radialcrush going crazy ape paranoid on them. He wasn't even sure their boss did, but he hired a pro from the Rogue Isles and they had broke out the rest of their stuff from that Crey lab raid.
He looked at Tod, his partner in crime more or less, who was staring into space holding the Freeze cannon. Why was he doing that? They were supposed to be watching for invaders. Just like in the Plastic Cog games, except he wasn't going to be the lazy guard who got zapped witht he tranq dart--oh no--that was for suckers who weren't paying attention, Suckers like Tod. He should make sure Tod didn't fall asleep on them, especially since there had been a fight a few minutes ago.
Turning to his buddy, Dan poked Tod once, but the other man didn't respond. Annoyed at his good gesture being ignored, Dan took his assault rifle and whacked Tod in the back with the butt of the rifle.
Tod swung his arm back forcefully knocking Dan back, who dropped the rifle in surprise. The assault weapon hit the ground and fired a short burst, which ricocheted in the small armored space the two Skull gang members were sitting.
Moments later, while Dan was clutching his arm that was bleeding he noticed a tall woman who could have stepped out of Mortal Fighter or Alive Xtreme Frisbee Golf and kicked him solidily in the face.
--
Quex looked at the two unconscious and wounded Skulls, bemused by Dreg's mind tricks. Giving a thumbs up to the mind controller, She picked up the rifle and Cryo Freeze ray and broke them before gesturing to Darkgloom to follow.

((Welcome Sylia, by the way...))
Duskblade juked left, then rolled right, one blade missing it's target by less than an inch. she took two glancing blows, one on the right shoulder, the other on the left hip. [Smoke! Shut up!] She interrupted, then spun away from a blow and brought a sword in under it's arm.
Mr. Bones was probably going to get a sore throat from all the screaming he did. The police down below were scattering about and still moving into positions. Sharpshooters continued to hold their positions as well, awaiting their orders.
The green giant attempted to fight through the pain and held the sword under his arm while the hero still held onto it. Once his peripheral caught sight of Abbie, a large hand lurched forward to grab at Duskblade's neck and toss her into Warpshroud's direction.

In a rather bored and not excited or manic voice so detached from her previous raving, Darkgloom sighed, "Well Mrs. Killjoy, he’s on the left. Hole'd up with his precious proximity explosives."
Crap! There was someone else in the warehouse, that's right! She wasn't even the main objective! Josiah facepalmed, but instantly figured he'd just be apart of the escorting team that took her out to the authorities so he could stock back up on ammunition and other supplies after the interrogation.
"So why you? Horton's a Bone Daddy. What's he need with you?"
