Not that I've noticed. Not knowing what your rep was previously, it's a bit difficult to determine how much you were lowered.
If someone with a high rep gives you rep, positive or negative, it carries more weight than someone with a relatively low rep.
I've had rep comments adjust my numbers by 2 or 3 and I've also had them move it by over 30.
If you aren't a prolific poster, it's easier to check on your rep. Do a search for all posts you've made. Go to each of those posts. Click the scales icon at the bottom of the column under your name. It will show your rep, if any, on that post. I think it also gives an indication of whether it was a positive or negative rep and possibly how much. I'm not certain on the last one though, so don't quote me.
If you post as much as Bill Z Bubba or Zombie Man (just as a for instance) it's a lot harder to check on them since there are so many new posts each day, sometimes each hour.
If you go through checking your comments and find a particularly offensive one, PM one of the mods about it. Rep comments fall under the same rules as forum posts.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Looks like this is the only time I was rep'd. Brought me down 21 points. Really? Did I do something wrong there?
Anyway, thanks for the help! I'll contact a mod about it. 
EDIT: What's the best way of getting ahold of a mod? I really hate to bother you guys with this topic/question, but I can't find any "forum help" areas. Thanks!

- Go to the Community Digest. You'll see a bunch of posts by our community reps.
- Click on a post by Avatea or The Ocho.
- In the post, if you click just to the right of their avatar name, a menu will pop up. One of the options will be to send them a PM. (This menu exists in everybody's posts)

I really don't like the Rep system. It's easy to suddenly be in the red, and then you're treated like a *******.

It means absolutly nothing, people will - rep u for personal reasons if u disagree with them and the some people here have multiple accounts/login names and will haunt you.

Ahh... I really don't care about rep, to be honest. I made this topic just out of curiousity, seeing if there were problems with -repping in the past. I had -21, and I didn't know if that was a lot or a little.

Some people are really picky. Don't let it bother you too much.

Some people -rep for stupid things. I got -repped for saying I use the arrow keys. It's all silly. And + rep to you cos... umm... yeah
Don't worry about it Kirby, it's just goofballs and their opinions. It won't get you banned or anything.
I wouldn't give you negative rep for it but I myself absolutely hate text speak. For phone text messages it is understandable. Not just because of the difficult to use keyboards but because of the limitation in text message size. However it just plain strikes me as wrong when you are using a full size keyboard or posting in a message forum where the character limitation is so very much higher.
I know some will say it doesn't matter because the point is still being communicated but just try using the same tactic in normal speech in order to save yourself the trouble of saying too many words. It is the text equivalent of saying "I go store buy milk." instead of "I'm going to the store to buy some milk.".
