Gray hostages?
You can't have grey-conning hostages in AE. You can't stick hostages in those little corner spots where the grey-conning hostages usually are in dev-created missions either.
As for animations, certain standard critters have a limited range of animations available. The "civilians" are especially limited, but some critters don't have any animations available at all. What are you trying to use for a hostage?

Well, that sucks. I seem to remember being able to have those - is it a temporary measure, or am I misremembering?
You're misremembering. The AE hostages have always used the "ally" spawn points, with full-sized enemy spawns surrounding them. They have always had a regular blue or orange targeting box.

I seem to have forgotten how to make old-fashioned gray hostages - release hostage only spawns ally-conning hostages. They always spawn in the hands-on-head position either, and the animations section only offers animations for the captors, not the captives.
Am I missing something obvious, or did AE beat me to it?
