Game freezing whenever powers are used

Started having this problem since i17.
Whenever I use a power, the game will freeze up for a time depending on what I used. Single target powers don't have much effect, a bit of a jerk but that's it. AOE powers freeze the game completely for several seconds, Hail of Bullets for example will freeze up COH for a good 10 seconds.
Using the latest Nvidia drivers, no crap running in the background that would be causing this from what I can see and I've even tried resetting the COH graphics settings to default, still get the same problem. When not using powers at all, the game is completely fine!

Just sorted it out!
Microsoft Security Essentials was giving COH trouble for some reason, added the COH folder to exclusion and all is well now!
