I used to spend a lot of time in the creeks near my old house, but never thot of finding gold there. However, I collected rocks, some were nice... from special clubs, but mostly I would just find them in a gravel parking lot, whenever I found the white ones that sparkle or some with quartz in them, I thought for sure they were valuable.
My backyard was littered with Arrowheads and various other Indian artifacts.
Every summer when I'd be forced to cut the grass I'd always find a few new ones.
Still got the most impressive ones. And a huge chunk o rock that was obviously where one was chipped out of.
Only thing that could be called treasure though would be the beaded necklace.
My 1st thought was my sister had left her junky plastic necklace outside. Then when I picked it up I noticed it wasn't plastic. It was bone...
My science teacher was so impressed she called the local museum.
It's still there.

When I was about 8, I took my moms pie tin and went to creek to pan for gold... I was positive I was gonna strike it rich because there was no one else there... I left that day with some Crawdads... no gold...
Did you ever search for/dig for treasure or have any other get rich quick ideas when you were a kid?
