DM/EA (Soul Drain)
BU takes 90 secs to recharge and lasts 10 secs, SD has a 120 sec rech and lasts for 30 seconds, so not much difference. SD is superior for a melee toon (in PvE, because you need mobs around you so... good luck with that in PvP).
It's just that Rage is overpowered. I love it, but it's OP.
Eh, Rage is pretty balanced with Soul Drain from a Brute perspective. 80% bonus damage in exchange for 10 seconds of downtime every 120 seconds. Soul Drain is down about a quarter of the time with a high-end build, dealing 166 average damage every 40 seconds. The net effect is about 50% bonus damage for 7 enemies. The difference in damage theoretically dealt is very roughly 8.25%, but Rage's downtime brings this down to 0.55%. That's before you consider the damage dealt by Soul Drain or possible damage dealt by the Brute during Rage crashes.
Of course, I think that's irrelevant. The sets can't pick between the two.
Also, you can't really compare the two powers alone, in a vacuum. Rage is placed in a set that deals out one of the two most resisted damage types in the game, whereas Soul Drain is in a set that deals out one of the least resisted damage types in the game.
Oh, and all the recharge in the world won't help Soul Drain activate (i.e., cast/animate) quicker; it just brings it up more often.

No Doubt, I just wish that SD would last longer. DM in general is pretty great, but it needs just alittle more power to be something that people would choose. The increase in damage to Siphon Life was great, but it has no real umph to it!

I think it has more to do with the single-target nature of the set. That's why I don't play it, personally.

DM is very powerful. I was on a mission 2 days ago with my 50 dm/da and I was lol'ing at the spines/DA scrapper because he took an eternity to kill an orange boss, I took them out quickly.
On an ITF, I was killing bosses as fast as the Stone Melee/WP Brute with my DM/DA (Stone melee has one mediocre AoE attack only btw, and a terrific mitigation tool in Fault, but DM has other cool stuff such as the heal in SL, D.Consumption which you probably skipped because you're /EA and Touch of Fear, I love ToF). Soul Drain is fine, BU is fine, Rage is OP, that's it.
I have a Dark Melee/Electric Armor Brute and was wondering why Soul Drain has had such a low lasting life? I mean with SS (Rage) you get 2 minutes and it doesn't need accuracy. With Soul Drain you only have 30 seconds and it takes anywhere from 2 to 1 minute to recharge. (Very Long) The difference between the two are are very different:

Is it just me or would Rage or a BU be better to have then the Soul Drain power, cause the activation time on this power takes why to long to activate. In PVP, I can almost get hit twice by the time it takes to activate this power! It says 2.37 seconds to activate, but sometimes it seems like 31/2 to 4 seconds. I mean, I guess if I had afew LOG's 7.5 recharges and with haste it would be faster maybe. Anyways, I was just wondering about some of your thoughts on this power and Dark Melee in general. TY
