Game Crash When Teaming

Ever since Issue 17 went live every time I get on a my game crashes. This has happened more than half a dozen times the past two days. I made a Widow when the new Issue came out and have only been able to solo with her, when I solo the game doesn't crash, but the moment I enter a mish with a team and we hit the first mob everything goes black. Without fail, every time I have teamed since Wednesday my game has crashed. Then I get a little message saying something like my Device Driver has crashed and that it is now operating again. This never happened before. This happening to anyone else, or am I the only lucky one?

What Operating System are you running? Including Service Pack number if applicable.

What Video Card do you have in your computer?

What version of drivers do you have installed for your video card?

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2, i think)

I do not know how to check what video card I have or what version of drivers I have.
(My laptop is just over two years old)

Ok so I googled how to check the driver and hopefully this is it.

Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

Thats all i could find.

First off, make sure that you've updated Windows to Service Pack 2. You can do this through Windows Updates. You may have to apply several updates before Service Pack 2 comes up.

There are issues with integrated Intel video chipsets and they are looking for a resolution, but this is the first I've heard this particular report. I'm going to PM The Television a link to this thread to get his input. I was going to send it to Tex, but can't seem to PM him.

I don't have enough information about your version of Windows (is it 32-bit or 64-bit?) to find the exact driver for you, but clicking this link will get you to the Intel Driver Update Utility.

Thanks for your help. My system is 32-bit.

I'm going to click that link you posted above, i'll let you know if it solves the problem.

"Display driver igfx has stopped responding" - That's the exact message i get. Then the game stops working and I have to restart it. I solo'd a handful of missions, then joined a team. We hit the first mob and CoH crashed. So it's only when teaming for some odd reason.

If you click this link it should get you the most current drivers for your OS and video card. Scroll down a bit and click the Download link in the lower right, scroll down and click the Accept link, download the file on this page (save it to your desktop).

Check out these threads:

Then post the results of these two programs:

  • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.

  • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Also, go into the game and open Menu > Options > Graphics Tab and tell us what these settings are set at:

Ultra Mode Options (will appear only if Advanced Graphics is Enabled)
  • Shadow Mode: Disabled, Stencil Maps, Shadow Maps
  • Shadow Map Shader: N/A, Low, Medium, High Quality
  • Environment Reflections: Disabled, Low, Medium, High, Ultra Quality
  • Water Effects: Disabled, Low, Medium, High, Ultra Quality
  • Advanced Occlusion Settings: Enabled or Disabled
  • Ambient Occlusion: Off, High Performance, Performance, Balanced, Quality, High, Super, Ultra

And if Advanced Occlusion is Enabled...
  • Occlusion Strength: Off, Slight, Medium, Strong, Strong with Color Bleeding
  • Ambient Resolution: Off, High Performance, Performance, Quality, High, Super High
  • Blur: No blur, Fast, Gaussian, Bilateral, Gaussian Depth, Bilateral Depth, Trilateral
