The 'right' level(s) to pitch IC AE Missions?
Personally, I've never seen anyone unwilling to run an arc because of level restrictions, especially in the RP groups I hang around with. YMMV of course, but I honestly can't imagine that there are enough people who would for you to worry about it when creating the RP arc, especially now that examplar/malefactoring allows a character to earn xp.

It depends on the type of enemies you're facing though. Some that would prove challenging for higher levels are an utter masochism-fest for the lower level groups of heroes, due to powers/abilities/slots gained rather than combat level alone.

Personally, I find that for me, if it's an RP mission anyway, things like XP are totally secondary to the story being told, and I couldn't care less about tangible rewards. The RP itself is a reward, if the story and mission are well told.

What FFM said.
If I'm running a mission (any mission) for RP purposes, I'm not doing it for XP. One mission doesn't make any difference, really.

Precisely this. I regularly create AE arcs for The Militia and not once have I had someone complain that they weren't getting enough rewards. Occasionally there will be a request to turn the difficulty up (my lot have a tendency to just blow through whatever I throw at them ) but nothing more than that. It's an RP arc, game mechanics come secondary.

Hello
With the upcoming i17 launch and custom XP, I was wondering about people's views on level ranges for RP arcs.
Now my intention to create arcs would be that, once played, they are then taken down from the system.
I know the arcs are for RP purposes and could, technically, be achieved by running them in Test Mode, but then that would mean I would have to be present to run them (and know what happens etc.).
Also, surely most people appreciate that levelling/gaining rewards is a part of the game: I wouldn't want to prevent people from gaining experience from these missions. Besides, the characters who run it are effectively 'gaining experience' as they run through the mission.
So, this brings me to level ranges:
Obviously for plots containing level-gated groups, the problem is less... problematic! For instance, if a plot involves the Vazhilok then anywhere between 1-20 is fair game. Trying to create equivalent custom versions of the early groups (especially Clockwork, pre psychic stage) is, IMO, pointless. The standard, Dev-created mobs are much better.
However, there is still a problem with this:
- Would players be willing to accept that their power levels are restricted for the purposes of the arc?
- Would some consider not joining a plot because of the level restrictions of the mobs involved?
- Are there any workarounds to this?
Of course this also extends to pure custom mobs:Your thoughts and feelings are, as ever, welcome.
