Very weird bug with Edit Note feature

One of my friends global chat handle shows as something completely different when I use the Edit Note feature after left clicking his name than what it actually is on my global friends list, what's even weirder is that the global name its saying he has is actually an old ex of mine, the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other and there is no way I could be mixing them up or clicking the wrong name etc.

The game is just saying he has 2 separate global handles at the same time, his real one and another players handle, I've tried all I can think of to fix it (relogging, restarting PC, trying other toons, verifying files) nothing has made any difference, I asked others to check and everything is normal for them, Anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it?

those playernote.txt files can be kinda tricky, and sometimes corrupted to show wrong information. Check your CoH's /account_name/ directory for it and edit/fix it from there.
