Bots/Therm, Win or Fail

I like to try out combos that i don't find guides for, I keep telling myself I'm going to write a guide for one of them but am generally too lazy.

Anyway, I didn't see a guid for Bots/Therm and was wondering if it was decent.

Your thoughts?

With your resistance shields as well as the bubbles from the protector bots your pets will be fairly survivable, and your heals will keep them up well.

The bots all prefer to stay at range so should be mostly in range of your AoE healing.

Stay together with the bots, put the assault bot on aggressive, hit your debuffs and heal any damage that comes your way.

Should be a winner.

I've had a bot/therm for a few weeks, it's easily my favorite combo. The bots are extremely survivable after you get fire shield and plasma shield, and you can use the heals to augment your protector bots. You get a pair of pretty good debuffs at level 36 and 38. The only issue I've had is typical for Bot/ builds, targets getting knocked back into previously un-agro'd mobs.

If there's no guide, that's probably just cause it's a recent thing (or at least recent as in 6 or 10 months old). Almost every 2 bot MM's I meet, one of them is a /therm. It's probably the best mix. I refuse to play one, though, because I like to feel unique.

You can get their lethal resistances up to 50% easy. Add to that the small amount of defense from the protector bots and you've got quite a lot of survivability.
/Thermal is hard to use with other primaries because it gives you no good way to stop mobs if they choose to bypass your pets and go straight after you. The protector bot's force field gives you some defense, plus you can slot Gaussian's set to Forge, and then Steadfast Protection to one of your Damage Resistance powers, and you can start getting a good defense for yourself.

My bots/therm is 42. When I was 35 I was soloing a +1 x4 arc and saw an AV at the end. I started to look for others to help, but then I looked up and saw that the bots were attacking her and all of them at full health.... huh?

So I go up there and help out. It took about 5-6 minutes of chasing that AV coward, but we got her. After that I have been soloing AV's and Heroes. When you put Heat Exhaustion and Melt Armor on the AV's or Heroes, it just trashes them.

Forge lasts for 2 minutes and with just 2 recharge IO's it is up in about 30 seconds. So you can have it on your top three pets at all times. I also have 2 to-hit IO's in it. With assault running from the leadership pool the top bots have a constant damage bonus of over 65%.

I have tried soloing missions at -1 x8 to see the AoE action of the bots, but when you do this you don't get a bunch of blues and whites. It ramps it up and you end up with yellows and oranges. It is still doable with this build, but slow. I found that it is best at x4. Don't even think of soloing x1 missions. You have AoE kings here with +65% damage bonus. Use them with that advantage.

Since bots have an innate resistance to damage, stacking the thermal shields on them increases resistances up to 44%. That coupled with the defensive shields of the Protector bots, the bots rarely die. Your heals are there as a backup. Its not like Pain where you have low resistance and have to heal all the time. I have a 50 bots/dark mm. When my bots/therm was level 40 he was out killing the 50! Plus the therm is a lot more fun.

I tried playing a bots/FF but it's just dead boring. No buffs, no debuffs and no HEALS! Killing a large mob takes forever. You might as well go afk.

You will love the bots/therm. Once you get to 50 you will probably start another bots/therm just to experience that fun again.

I'm sure it is really survivable, but playing bots with a secondary that has no slow kinda seems like less fun to me. Assault bots burn patches will just make everything scatter around like crazy.

Think that's bad, get a level 32 thug mastermind. The arsonist has a burn patch which charges faster.

To love Thugs/ you've got to love that Arsonist. Personally, I hate the little ******* and quit playing my Thugs/Thermal shortly after hitting 32. This is off topic though, my apologies.
