Siren's Call Mechanics
Are you participating in PvP battles, or killing NPCs at the hotspots? Zone control depends on winning victories against NPCs at the hotspots. There will be Arachnos and Longbow fighting each other, and you need to help your faction win.
Zone control allows you to buy new temporary powers.

There are PVP battles in Siren's Call?
Pics or it didn't happen.
Anyway, I'm talking about the thing where there's a gaudy red star on the map and you run over there and you see a ton of Longbow fighting Arachnos so you throw out Seeds and Creepers and there's a bunch of confusion and destruction and there's a text-flash of "VILLAINS HAVE WON A ZONE BATTLE!" and then you laugh maniacally (optional).
I thought a few of those would move the progress bar at the top of the screen, but it's either not moving or moving very slowly, so I thought there might either be a secondary method of advancing it or a fundamental misunderstand on my part. Edit: Or, failing that, I was hoping that someone knew enough to say something like "Oh, it takes 25 battles to win if the bar starts in the middle."
There's a "zone event guide" in the PVP section that explains Siren's Call's battles, but I'm too lazy to go and look for it.

I don't know exactly how many battles it takes to win, but it's a lot. Some nights, I go there have the zone completely to myself. I'll fight all night, like five or six hours, and still haven't moved the bar all the way over. Really, I kind of wish they would change that. Without interference, you can finish the zone events in Bloody Bay, Warburg, and Recluse's Victory in an hour or so, if you're taking your sweet time and take a bio break or two. Finishing the zone event in Siren's Call is an all-day affair. I'm not saying it should be as fast as the others, but damn, it's just so long now.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Yeah, I soloed a few battles and saw no significant change, so for a few days I won 5-6 battles each night, but I never did convert SC to my faction's control, or even come close. I know I was only one character, but I was IOed-out at least. When it's that hard, it's pretty discouraging.

Does anyone know how fast the necessary Longbow spawn? If they all spawn at the outset, I may have to come back when my duoing partner and I get our pets. If we get another friend or two in on it, we could wreck them pretty fast.
I don't think the -Res grenades are cool enough to justify doing that absurd event twice, but it'd be interesting to see how fast we could do it once, if there's no "sit and wait for the rest of Longbow to arrive" session.
Wouldn't be surprised if it took 50 or so battles. Took me several hours over DXP to get it to switch factions. Luckily a few people stuck their head in over time. It's possible that it takes so long to switch control as a "benefit" of building up Bounty when the zone is empty. It's one of two places in the game where you can consistantly get SOs that are lower than lvl 22 (Siren's Call minimum range is lvl 20).
All the PvP zone guides seem to be broken, so:
How does the zone control thing in Siren's Call work? I got my team to win a battle or two, but the blue and red bar doesn't seem to be moving much. Do you just need to win tons and tons of battles, or is there something else going on there?
