What do you think the drop rate is?
We were told what the chance an NPC of a given rank (minion, lieutenant, boss) has to drop a recipe when I9 was released, but as far as further information regarding drop rates and weighting (i.e. random roll weighting, PvP IO drop rate), we're not really sure. People seem to be pointing at a 1 in 60 or 1 in 70 drop rate for PvP IOs (on rep-valid kills), though, based on quite a bit of testing.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Based on my old drop analysis thread, the drop rate for purples is around 1 in 1500 mobs. The drop rate for PvP IOs is around 1 in 100. I had 5 on a new char when he hit 400 Rep, and that seems to match my rate on previous chars. These numbers could be off by a moderate amount as my sample sizes probably aren't big enough to be statistically significant. But I'd say Purples are 1 in between 1000 and 2000, while PvP IOs are 1 in between 50 and 200. As for Set IO distribution, check out the Rare Recipe Weight project. People have been rolling large numbers of merits on test and reporting the results. Leandro has gathered up the results, crunched the numbers, and posted them on ParagonWiki.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

marketeers don't tend to speculate much, oddly enough.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
This is a thread for speculating about drop rates. I mean drop rates for purples, drop rates for PVP IO's, drop rates for procs..... whatever you've got. I'm pretty sure none of us actually know what the setting are, besides that they change from time to time. I'm sure some types of play generate more than others. (Like I bet the drop rate on missions is higher than the drop rate on street kills.)
Anyone with input they can offer on this? I myself have no idea. I've yet to get a purple in my playing career so far, but I'm not to big on the level 50 action either, so I guess that's to be expected. I'm curious what people have experienced, and where they experienced it.
