Hey all, I've been playin cox for 45 months now but I'm more of a villains kinda guy so I don't have any scrapper, so I've been wanting to make one . I decided to look around the forums to see what looked good and decided to try out dm/invuln. But as I was looking around I keep seeing the "pylon challenge" and was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what that is? Also are there any other types of "challenges" out there? And lastly would dm/invuln be able to accomplish these challenges? Thanks ahead of time for any infor for this scrapper noob .

Pylon Challenge: Solo a Rikti Pylon in the RWZ, no temps, no inspirations. Just run up and beat it down.

RWZ challenge: Find a spawn of level 54 rikti with 3 bosses. Take out the whole spawn without temps or inspirations. While you are allowed to herd them up, you're not allowed to split the spawn up.

The last good one I know of is to head into the AE and create a mission with a lot of AVs and find out how many AVs at once you can handle and take down.

A DM/Inv is a rock solid combination. It won't reach the low times on a pylon that the DM/Shields are reaching, but its survivability will be very good. The tohit debuffs from dark melee stacked on to Inv's invincibility plus the self heal from dark will be very nice indeed.

All good stuffs. For a really 'old-school' challenge, go out to the Storm Palace and run a lap around the Storm Palace fortress in the center, killing everything as you come to it, all with no temps or insp's.

As far as I know that's the first scrapper challenge, and it's still a good one.

Be warned, for an Invuln, that's going to be next to impossible.

Also fun thing is to herd Monster Island in PI. You won't HURT any of them, but see how many you can pile up around you.

AV soloing and RCS (Rikti Crash Site) challenges existed before the Storm Palace runs were really popularized. Of course, many of these were designed as challenges for toggle-IH regen scrappers because nothing else really did any lasting damage to them. I distinctly recall some other secondaries laughing at some of the challenges while others had a similarly hard time. Ah... the days before ED. Those were interesting...

The "Werner Might Die" challenge?

I still haven't done that will Bill. Just +1/x2 w/ bosses? No temps, no insps, no deaths. Ok.

Originally, it was at the difficulty right below invincible so as not to spawn Lt. Sefu Tendaji as an AV, since he has something like 50% damage resistance. I figure +1x2 bosses no AVs is as close as we get in the new system.

Thought you were joking about it being tough.

Right up until I rescued Lady Grey and the ambushes tore me apart like I was a level 1 n00b in Atlas Park.

Heh. Yeah, it doesn't SOUND tough, does it? It's just that Vanguard and Longbow are much nastier than most other enemies. If I recall, the other really nasty part is the ambushes when you raid the Longbow data center. You could probably just avoid the ambushes, and I think the mission ends with the last computer, before the last ambush even arrives. But I consider it unscrapperly to not fight them all. I mean, they went to all the trouble of ambushing me, don't I owe them my best?

Bit of a necropost, but did they tone down the "Steal data from Longbow" mission in Gaussian's arc? I'm used to waves of ambushes by nasty, super powered heroes, using evil "tricks" like fear. I also thought I remembered fighting two of them at once. This time, it was just men with guns, one at a time, and one main boss with a tier 9 in the final room. Never had to use my heal. Never was in any danger. Lame! Also, my ambushes for the last glowie never materialized, and I explored the entire map afterward trying to find them. I'm going to be very disappointed if they toned it down (i.e., broke the challenge). Or did I just get really lucky on the bosses, and was blind to the ambush the way it's easy sometimes to miss that last glowie, that last enemy you need to beat?

Yeah, figured I should give it a shot. No problems, and everything was as I remembered it except for that one mission having easy waves of ambushes twice instead of nasty waves of ambushes three times. Random spawns are random, so it might have just been the luck of the draw on the ambushes. But it was weird.
