Hows my SD/BA Build?

Hi all, kinda new to IO builds and this is all done using Mids.
Trying to keep the cost down so no Purples .

I already have some of these sets (5 of the Gaussian, 6 ToD, 4 Sciro, and 2 of the Healing Uniques [forget which ones], 5 CrushImpact).

Am aiming for Def first and Recovery second.

Also I do SSK down to do TF or to help my friends which is why I made the default IO level 33 - kinda middle ground.

Also I use Ninja Run + the Jetpack to travel.

Have a look and recommend some options or if I have missed anything important:

Well, personally I'm not a fan of Focused Accuracy from the Energy Mastery set to begin with as I think it's endurance cost out weighs it's benefit.

There are a few things that concern me about your build:

  • I think you've under slotted for endurance on both Pendulum and Cleave.
  • Hasten will help, but I would personally prefer more recharge on Shield Charge.
  • Phalanx fighting would do you much better earlier in the build as it gives you a nice 5% bonus to defense with no one in range for absolutely no endurance cost what so ever.
  • Although Grant cover doesn't add to your defenses, it does gives a nice defense de-buff resistance. Properly slotted you can get your total up to 100% defense de-buff. Enough recharge on things and you can get the occasional doubling to 200%+
For a different take on things this is my rough idea of what I'm thinking for my SD/BA. This should give you something to compare to. By no means is this perfect, but take a look and see if it gives you any ideas.

Chum! Gimme mah merits!

I'm working on my own SD/WM build right now, so I'll post some feedback once that's done and I have a bit more of a feel for Shield slotting.

I agree with Rangle on Cleave and Pendulum, but IMO all four of your PBAoE, including Shield Charge are underslotted for everything but Accuracy.

Also, Shield Defense does not need -KB protection, and slotting it in Tough leaves it very underslotted for resistance. Deflection is similarly underslotted. With those two powers you should be getting over 45% S/L resistance, and you're currently well below that.

Here's what I'd do: Crushing Impact is fine with five slots if you use everything but the Dam/End/Rchg, so change Gash and and Swoop to that slotting which will free up two slots. Weave doesn't need the extra end red slot, so that can be used, too. (Why would you overslot Weave for end red and underslot Tough? They both have the same endurance cost.) I'd also drop the second slot in Boxing; the regen bonus is nice, but it's better to properly slot your other powers, IMO.

Then, put another slot in Deflection for a common resist IO. Either 3-slot or 4 slot Tough with any set, making sure you get both the Res/End and Res/End/Rchg. (If you're just going to use 3 slots, I'd recommend a set like Titanium Coating or Aegis that goes to 50.)

Shield Charge needs another slot, then slot it with a combination of Scirocco's Dervish and Multi Strike to get plenty of Acc, Rchg and Dam, with sufficient End Red in the mix. Scirocco's Dam/End, Dam/Rchg, Acc/Rchg, Acc/Dam/End and Multi Strike Acc/Dam, Dam/Rchg would work well.

For Cleave and Pendulum, I'd replace the Scirocco's Acc/Rchg with the Dam/Rchg, then use a Multi Strike Dam/End/Rchg or a Oblit Acc/Dam/Rchg as the fifth slot.

For Whirling Axe, if you replace some of the level 33 Scirocco's with higher level ones you'll be closer to the ED cut-off for damage.

If my count is correct, you should still have a free slot, and since based on your slotting you seem very concerned with accuracy, why don't you put a third slot in CJ for a Kismet +Acc? In most cases, the ToHit bonus is more useful than accuracy bonuses.

Just a small tip on the accuracy slotting: a good way to tell if you have enough +acc/+to-hit is to show the Last Hit Chance line in your combat attributes monitor window. If you're consistently seeing hit chances of 95% in there for a particular attack then you have enough (possibly too much) accuracy slotted.

Hit percentages are quite difficult to monitor subjectively since you notice the misses more than the hits, which tends to lead to overslotting of accuracy enhancements.
