Flytrap
not necessary, but the extra dmg and it holds aggro fairly well so your being attacked less overall.
if you dont like using it, its also a good IO mule for he recharge intense pet set to get the rech bonus if you want to make perma dom
Get it and slot it with procs, including the -res one and it goes from skippable to decently useful. Usefulness aside its still just a fun pet to have and look at.
for what its worth, Flytrap used to be much worse, and was only really good for absorbing alpha's( I firmly believe it took given Plant Control to controllers, who generally depend on their pets more, for them to realize how bad Flytrap was), now its not bad, maybe not the best pet out their, but not bad for some extra damage( formerly you could be dying while your flytrap did nothing but watch)
The pet doesnt help much just by nature and the abilities it gets. But to be fair, looka t the rest of plant control and tel me it really needed a good pet. It didnt. A cone confuse that can keep groups confused constantly, the highest damaging AoE immobilize in game, Carrion Creepers?! Honestly the fly trap with standard slotting and a proc or 2 is much more than enough, it just helps fill in the little gaps in your character regardless of class and I see no reason to skip it.

Slot in 4 Exp. Reinforcements for the nice 6.25% global recharge, fill the last 2 slots with procs, and enjoy.

I respecced out of Whirling Hands to get the pet and my word my performance has doubled. And it doesn't even have good slotting yet. I was initially wary since I had heard that non-MM pets have a tendency to be incredibly dumb but even on its off moments it's pretty good.

Since Dominators have a damage secondary, how needed is the pet in Plant?
