Nova Form w/Capped Range Defense

I was playing around in Mid's with the idea of making Nova form my #1 option. I figured since Blasters can cap ranged defense and play hover-blaster it could be done for Nova. I don't know if this is an original idea but here is my build for consideration and comment:

Others have done it and liked it. In general, however, it is more effective to build for perma Eclipse/Hasten first and then add on whatever +def you still can. That way the global recharge you're going for anyway will also let you fire your nova attacks more frequently, use sunless mire more often, use stygian circle more frequently, and keep out more dark extractions at once, upping your overall damage and survivability quite a bit.

Going for softcapped range will probably be cheaper and let you avoid more mezzes so you don't need dwarf as much, though. Try it out; you can always do a second build.

Very cool build... For someone who wants to spend most of their time in Nova form, this is probably one of the best ways to slot for it, considering that soft-capped ranged def will keep most mezzes from hitting. I made a few minor changes to improve the build, if you don't mind...

First, you can switch out the KB set you had in Quasar for a damage set, and still maintain your softcapped range def, and greatly improve the damage your nuke does. Also, if you're planning on playing most of the time in Nova form, you're not really going to need to put that many slots in Gravity Shield--especially if you're using your Eclipse to full effect. So, I moved those slots to Hasten, so it would have much less of a downtime... I also franken-slotted your Eclipse a bit more to vastly improve the recharge on it, so it only has about 5 to 10 seconds of downtime (your soft-capped ranged def should make up for the time it's down)... Also, I'm unclear why you had 3 of the 6 Kinetic Crashes in Gravitic Emanation at the lowest level (21) possible, so I changed those three to the level the other 3 are at (50). Other than that, everything else remains the same... Nice build!

The slotting levels were a hold over. Thanks for fixing that. As for the rest you make some good points...again thank you. Here's a version using Dwarf. It gives the build a bit more flexibility but Human form powers take a hit. Eclipse > Mire > Quasar becomes an every now and again combo as opposed to an every other spawn tactic. However in open terrain it allows for relatively safe hover blasting and in tight terrain it allows for psuedo-tanking and, when the situation calls for it, it allows for a big boom.

So I guess my question is...is it better to go Dwarfless and have the Quasar combo up more or go Dwarf and be able to psuedo-tank?
