USB Headset problems
When using a headset with Teamspeak, I leave the game the use the default built-in sound with external speakers. Then use the headset only for Teamspeak. I currently have a Logitech Clearchat USB Wireless headset plugged into my iMac. Works great in that configuration.
The chat client should let you configure which sound device to use. Let the game use the built-in sound as default.
Do you have anything else hooked up to USB besides a mouse? Even a hard drive or a hub can cause the USB bus to reset occasionally, cutting off the audio.

Fry- I was wondering if that might work - it will mean I'll have to set it to push to talk (which I never like), but it beats no sound.
Cuppa - thanks, I'll have to try disconnecting everything but the wireless keyboard/mouse (kinda need that to work).

Now I just play on speakers with the sound turned down. It just sucks that I have to.
Did either of you try changing the compatibility/performance switch in CoH graphics/audio options?

I tried that after the sound died - no effect.
Maybe I'll switch to compatibility, then try the headphones.... thanks.

Well, I have achieved a minor victory at least.
Last night I was able to use the headset for Teamspeek, while leaving the game sound through my av system. I was able to adjust the speaker volumes and mic sensitivity so I could just leave it on voice activation without others hearing the game. (I'll be testing it on Ventrillo later on.)
I'm going to try to tweak it some more in hopes of eventually getting the game on my headset (it sounded great on it for the minute or so before it breaks the game).
Thanks to everyone for their help!

I have had success by always making sure my headset is recognized in the Sound Control Panel before I run the game. If I plug in the headset after the game is running, I get many of the problems you cited, along with a few others.
I tried searching the forum, and don't see this addressed:
I have been trying to get a usb headset to work with COH. The first set had horrible sound quality and the mic did not work. (It was a cheap jWin.) That seemed to be universal on the mac.
I then picked up a Logitech headset (Clearcomfort Pro iirc) - sounds great, mic works well - until I get on COH. Then it works for a minute or two, then all the sound cuts out. I have to restart the game to even get the sound back through my speakers. iTunes still worked even when the sound was dead on the game.
I'm running on a late 06 imac, with Snow Leopard - everything seems to be updated/verified. 3D sound is not on in game. There are no drivers for the headset on the Logitech site.
Any ideas? I really don't want to have to buy a Third headset just to use TeamSpeex or Ventrillo....
Thanks
