1. Most of Champion is in the Eastern time zone, and that's how all events are scheduled.
2. The server is pretty active Sunday through Thursday evenings. I'm usually not on Fridays, so someone else will have to answer for that day. The server tends to be a bit of a ghost town on Saturday evenings though, sadly.
3. Yes. BMT of Champion is a moderated global channel for badges, monsters, and strike / task forces on Champion. Please send a global tell to @Cobalt Azurean for an invite.

I think its pretty even. Im a PST player and there is still a decent population when i usually leave and thats between midnight and 2 pst.
I agree with everyone else, get on BMT.. thats the best way to find stuff on this server.

CL and Cherry answered most of your questions. It is a much more West Coast server than nearly any other one except maybe Virtue. While Victory is a ghost town after 9 PST, Champion still has a good population. Events are schedule EST because that seems to be the convention and yes, the server population is much higher during prime eastern play times.
Haven't notice any particular "slow" time. CL mentions Saturday night and oddly, I think Saturday night might be slower than Sunday night. Guess there must be an "off peak" use special.
If you haven't already get into Grey's SG or mine so you have blue-side transportation.

I think it may help new folks if we starting listing more off the Mods that play; as there are a quite a few:
Myself, Myrm, ReD, Neuronia, Nibz, Ping, a couple more I just can't think of off the top of my head while I'm at work.
And Bud should follow this post (hint hint) with the names of the Mods on Champions United, too.
Just thinking it might make things easier.

I just *knew* that if I tried to sweet talk the search feature, it would actually help me for once......
So I skimmed this; OP asked some info I was curious about. One thing I didn't see was what time zone the server is regarded as mainly?
And another thing, which days are usually more active in the evening? Or pretty even throughout the week?
And a 3rd thing (I didn't say I could count), I kind of glazed over the noise about global channels, but is there 1 or 2 that are active but not spammy? I'd like to lurk in them for a few days to get a feel for them.
