Limited funds, need help with which character to IO up

Hello All,

I am back again with probably more newbie questions but hopefully someone can help me out. I turn to the sage advise of you fellow forum readers ^^

Anyways I am looking to find which character I want to invest in as my "first purchase" so to speak. As I said before I have a few level 50 characters (Earth/Emp Troller, Nin/Nin Stalker, SD/SS Tanker) What I am looking for is a good character to IO up.

I do not have huge amounts of money so I am trying to find the "best" character to kit out so that I get the best return for my money. What I would like the character to be able to do is kill AV/GM's, survive doing it and hopefully be able to farm.

My Fiance has decided that he is going to be working on his Ice/NRG Blaster so I will have him by my side as well most likely. I was thinking about doing it to my SD/SS Tanker but I am not sure if the damage output is there (we tried to kill Jack in Irons on our own but couldnt do enough damage) So I am wondering if a Scrapper would be better. I have been playing a Kat/WP Scrapper and am liking it so far.

In short I guess what I am asking is, with an Ice/NRG Blaster by my side what would be the best character for me to invest in that we could be able to defeat GM's and such alone. I am open to starting a new character so this is no problem I just want to know before I spend heaps of money on IO sets.

Thanks again for all of your help and letting me pester you all ^^

As a standalone your best bet would be either the SD/SS tank or the Kat/WP scrapper you mentioned.

As a partner for a blaster a /kin or /rad controller would be a good choice. The tank would also pair well with a blaster.

AVs won't be a problem for any of the pairings (most likely). But in order to take down GMs you need a power to counteract it's regen. I like Rad for that purpose because it requires less expenditure at first to be effective, and gets truly nasty when IOed.

Cold arguably makes for a better GM hunter, but you need to get a sizable amount of recharge before it gets really good at it. Also, the shields will help keep your blaster partner alive, especially if he takes Cold as his Epic Pool.

I have a Rad/Sonicdefender that I love to death, but for pairing up with a blaster a controller would be a better bet. Fire/, Illusion/ and Plant/ would be my choices.

Hope that helps.

If you're intent on soloing GMs, then a support type will help out a lot more than a melee. A rad/sonic def, an ill/rad troller, some traps corruptors and defenders can solo GMs while even the most ridiculously IO'ed melees cannot.

If you're looking standalone then kat/wp would be the one I chose since solo they can do some rather insane things.

I recommend you pick a support type character (kin, rad, cold, traps) and work on IO'ing it lightly. In a team setting (even with just 2 players), debuffs and buffs matter a lot more than the quality of IOs.

Based on your topic title, I see a 2-edged issue.

1> Choice of AT and build.

It looks like some good advice has been given here, and I don't have anything
to add on that point.

2> Limited Income.

Why not adjust this area as well? To do so, I have to risk some ire and
suggest reading some guides in the Marketing forum (or my sig <shameless plug>).

There are several strategies that are effective enough and easy enough
to do. These can greatly increase that limited income without biting into
your normal gameplay time very much at all.
