Windows 7/CoH Help

I have just purchased and switched over to a quad-core Asus CG5270 computer running Windows 7 (64-bit). My DSL provider is Verizon.net. Have tried loading the City of Heroes/City of Villians software to no usable end.

The software loads on my computer but when I click on the updater it does a checksum then says its downloading a file manifest list and then nothing. I only get the "quit" option. I have set CoH/Cov as an exception in the Windows Firewall and disabled the Verizon.net Firewall when I play (something I had to do on my previous system to play CoH/CoV).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say you're loading it (or have loaded it,) are you talking about from a CD, or just downloading the updater from plaync.com and letting it run?

From a CD I purchased around September 2008.

hmm... actually tracert'ing cohupdate.coh.com and having it time out after 75.149.228.78 - comcast server. (My install's up to date, so it doesn't need anything from there, but still.)

In any case, go through this to start - and there are actually two stickied posts in this forum with some info that may help. This (which part of the above was linked from and This.

I just updated my XFX Radeon 4350 HD card to the Windows 7 64 bit driver because the sun wasn't shining in the game world. I could see the sun was now shining, but it would keep flashing the 'Loading' page from after the CoH Updater.
I wonder if CoH is 64 bit ready.

64 bits has nothing to do with your problem, apparently the game has some flickering/graphics issues with ATI cards for some reason. I have run CoX on 64 bit OS for the last two+ years with nary a problem that could be blamed on the OS.

/this.

I did hear something about flashing in ATI and getting some patch, but... well, current rig has nVidia graphics in it. Pretty sure it's been mentioned on here in the last month - I'd search for ... wait, forum doesn't like 3 character searches again. >.<

Ask FatherXmas or je_saist, perhaps. Might know if it's relevant and if so what to get.

You are looking for this thread.

Now assuming that is the issue, all we know is an ATI card is involved, the OpenGL hotfix for the 9.12 driver is found here.

But since we have little actual facts to go on we can only guess.

Edit: This info is for Medieval_Warrior who threadjacked this and not the OP.
